i study international relations and politics here in brazil and i notice how ignorant some people can be. the problem is that ignorant people always think they know it all, when they actually know so little about what they are saying.
when the president of the world's most powerful country is making decisions based on his selfish interests, we have got to make an effort and try to learn something from what's going on. your analogy to the holocaust situation was great. i have a feeling people that, in a few decades, people will look back to the beginning of the 21st century and be ashamed for what is going on. i almost wish i wasn't going through all of this.
btw, i didn't think i was going ever to comment on a green day song :P don't get me wrong, i think the band is good. it's just not my favourite kind of music. |

i agree with been24, specially with the relation between 'two fingers in a rock glass' and drinking/alcohol. 'pinch to snub that restless nerve' also gives a feeling of some sort of drug abuse.
as for the suicidal approach, i don't think ben gibbard is interested in writing that kind of lyrics. i don't have anything against it, i just think they're not into that kind of mood.
i really don't know, it could mean a lot of things. as usual, great lyrics from dcfc that can have lots of different interpretations. |

the song kinda wore out fast for me to, but after seeing the video i think i listen to it more often.. you guys should check it out :>
as for the clanking of crystal, i think that's about the glasses and the toasts people make on new year's eve, isn't it? i think it has a mellow feeling to it rather than anger specifically. but hey, that's only my opinion |

when you think you've already listened to every good song by dcfc, make sure you listen to each one of their albums throughly one more time. 'blacking out the friction' surprised me after i started listening to 'the photo album' regularly and now it is one of my favourites. i can't wait to see them live:~ |

i think this song talks about a relationship.. how he expected so much of it and he finally realized it's not the way he thought it would be.. he blames himself for all the problems in the relationship and how he's not going to get better until he breaks away from himself, which means getting rid of the part of him that insists on thinking he creates his own problems. at the same time, he thinks he wants to heal and find a true relationship, think about the things that went wrong and make sure he doesn't make the same mistakes again.. he wants to get back together, cause it feels like something real for him that didn't work out for some reason, although he thinks it's own fault.. he wants to learn to deal with it.
im sorry if it sounds confusing, but im confused as of now, since i'm pretty much going through all of that.. it's hard to put it down on words, but they did an awesome job. chester and mike have really nice voices indeed.. |

I just can't get enough of this song. It has now become my favourite song ever, and i can't live without it. Just the way Sarah sings on the 'chorus' makes it worthwhile.
