riiiight. so im not gonna argue with any of you, because im not too fond of the whole virtual arguing thing, but here's my opinion/hint: all ive seen on here is stuff about "posers," selling out, and "REAL" punk. 1. The word "poser" [ ::cough:: poseur :cough:: ] is used too much. and im not gonna get into it, but i think people need to think a lot more before they call someone a "poser." 2. There is nothing wrong with selling out. First off, it usually means that they're sending a message to someone, or they have good music and people are liking it. Second, a person likes music [ or SHOULD like music ]just because they do, and that shouldnt be based upon selling out. If you like a band, you like their music, you like the messages that the band is sending, and they sell out, are you going to all of a sudden just hate the band? If you ask me [ which you didnt ], thats completely ridiculous. 3. The whole idea of "real" punk and bands changing is crazy too. Music is going to change. Even the bands that most people consider to be "real punk" now, sound very different from what punk used to be. Ska is a very good example of that: Ska started off sounding like...jamaican music. It was more like reggae. And now, its more punk influenced. It's not just New Found Glory [ or Blink182, since most people complain about them too. ]Compare some new stuff to old stuff, and you'll see that music changes. Period. i know...i said everyone is entitled to their opinion, didnt i? and actually, i wasnt arguing. think...calm soothing voice. mwahaha. and i dont like people being judgemental period. not only when it doesnt agree with me. well actually...most people never agree with me, so im not really used to knowing what thats like, but whatever. i think what i meant, was judgemental in that stereotypical way. like, saying all emo kids do is cry. thats a stereotype...one of which is not true. its not that im upset. i dont really care if people like my music or not. well, of course i care, but not in the sense that im going to go ripshit on them for not liking it. but, again, ill make a summary: respect doesnt do any harm. This is really a great song, and I love it. It reminds me of this kid that i kind of know. He was telling me that he wished he lived closer to me because he wanted to be the one to love me. But then he was saying how he never wants to fall in love and that he tries not to trust people and its better if you care for yourself. And he told me he lies to himself, trying to make him happy...and no matter what, he just thinks that people dont care about him. Unfortunately, this song describes me well too, because everyone who always made me happy walked out of my life one way or another. So I'm sick of it and I do the same as RuFiO gIrL...i try to shut them out, because I'm unhappy as it is and i don't need someone to make me happy and then just leave me. mESSAGE tO aLL: alright, im not up with this whole virtual arguing thing. its really ridiculous. however... whats with all the bashing of the bands? of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but why waste your time in front of a computer screen typing how much a band sucks? music is supposed to express a feeling or send a message of some sort. and that is what dashboard is doing. their songs are great. To the fucktard who made this comment, "And, unlike every whiny emo-bitch who never grew a wang and spends all his time crying about the-absolute-worst-thing-ever-that-happened-today, I don't *like* fluid coming out of my eyes, be it tears or blood. Learn to stop being such a tool and you won't have so much to cry about at night, pansies. The girls might even like you once they realize you've got Wang (tm). ": Seriously? what the fuck? maybe you never grew a wang either, because that comment was completely immature and uncalled for. and the "whiny emo-bitches" dont only cry. this song is expressing something...and maybe he is singing it because he needs a way to get his feelings out. and so what if "emo kids" are emotional? that makes them pansies? i thought pansies were flowers? the emo-bitches must smell real nice. =D because other than that, you mean "pansies" in a homosexual way. and hey, if someone is a homosexual, then good luck to them. they have the strength to express how they feel without giving a flying fuck what others think of them. i think they deserve credit for that, instead of criticism. plus, its A LOT different to listen to a song, especially a dashboard song, when you've been in that position, rather than just listening to someone "bitch about their problems." the people who appreciate these songs are usually people who are basically being told they're not alone, and that someone else knows how they feel. to me, dashboard is pretty rad. =] all im saying is - if you want others to respect you and your music, you should respect theirs. dont you ever get sick of living in the judgemental views of today's society? because thats exactly what you're contributing to. later \m/ - aSHLEY |
