It sounds like the fall into the pit of drugs... Napoleon in rags, pawning the diamond ring... Including the line "Beware doll, you're bound to fall" why would someone just fall from grace for the sake of it... it seems like something she's doing to herself, and that she needs to watch out... but the part that Dylan is gloating, well he's enjoying it, and probably so is everyone else! |

This song is so lovable that whenever anyone covers it, they're automatically interred into the circle of light! check out KT Tunstall's cover on video, on Youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-K4CXvxNcw |

This song is actually part of a trilogy dedicated to the screw-up she was with at the time. She's talking about/to the same guy on this song, Hands Clean, and You Oughta Know. All three songs just rub in the feeling of being cheated, and tricked, and she does one hell of a job rubbing it in... Alanis Rocks the world! |

I'm with JustBen on this one, but I think the suicide part isn't yet confirmed, thus the "I hope you're well and what you've done is right" part. The singer still doesn't know what's become of the Isobel, but she's a bit worried she might've hurt herself (as BadeBall said). Or, on the other hand, she might just be in the denial phase of knowing that Isobel _did_ commit suicide. Overall, a wonderful song, full of meaning, and thought! |

It's obvious that she's talking of a relation failing from both ends, but does she plan on ending up out of the relationship, or is she hoping to find new meaning on the trip through, and ending up in this same relationship, with a better level of understanding? Either way it's a song to listen to, if not for the meanings, then at least for the music, and the performance! Excellent work. |

Whenever I hear this song, I feel that she's trying to talk HIM out of suicide, although he already has done it. This is more of a euology to him. This song is either playing off his answering machine, or we're in the same room as he is, with him sprawled on the ground... in any case she's too late to talk him out of doing it. As to why he's doing it, he's frustrated with all that's going on around him. He is extremely smart, but he's also a rebel, setting his own rules, and he's hating the confines set around him... that's what she's countering by saying "IF". She's trying to convince him that all these reasons can slide off, that there's a greater essence to life than all those. Too bad she's late! Great song. |

All the comments are upbeat, but could this song by any chance be the "thank you" note for a one-night-stander? ended by him? Is she by any chance being sarcastic, or looking back at something that isn't any more? Anyone think of it like that, or am I the only pessimist around here? ;-) |

I couldn't agree more with PiaJr. The song says everything there is to say about relations between people we care about. Sarah Brightman also sang this song, but I Dido excels! Sexy, Sexy, Sexy voice! |

I must agree with 'chichulapiuka' this is the explanation I feel most. He says he tried to satisfy her appetite, (I tried my best to feed her appetite Keep her coming every night) and I have reason to believe that the other spelling for coming could also suit this entry. As for now, he's fed up with fishing her back in, although she's appears to have changed, as (And her heart is breaking in front of me) doesn't imply physical only. But he's just had enough, he won't try any more!
Excellent song, but a bit short! |

This song shows the regret she feels for pushing him so hard. She made him leave, thinking that that's what she really wanted (I know I left too much mess and destruction to come back again) But now she regrets it, and she's almost ready to pay the price (And if you live by the rules of "It's over" then I'm sure that that makes sense), but trying once more never hurt anyone. |

| Pink Floyd – Another Brick in the Wall, Pt. 3 Lyrics

I just left a comment in The Wall (Part 2). The wall visualises his protection against the world. Writing on the wall symbolizes realising that he doesn't really need a wall to protect himself. He'll either get hurt anyway, or he was just running away from things that don't scare him anymore! |

I agree with sapphireskies. It talks about how the singer is building a wall around himself to protect himself. He's learnt to cope with it, almost given up of it ever changing "all in all, it's just another brick in the wall". It even makes more sense if u have a look at The Wall (Part 1). he's taking a look at other things that pushed him into that confined state, and he just adds them to the list.. of this things that scarred him someday. |

The Syd Barrett part is right. I'm with the opinion that says drugs more than mental unstability.. who are 'they' who got him to trade good for bad.. whoever it was who got him hooked in the first place. The singer feels sorry for the state Syd's gotten to, however, he's upset about it, and explains by saying: we've gone through everything together.. give me ur hand, and I'll help you out of what ur in..
So many feelings, emotions in the song. Uplifting, yet still depressing. a great song, a great band. |

It's a war for sure.. but who's he. The part where he says "Every man has to die" gives the impression of him being the commander who everyone looked up to. He's encouragin them to go on, without him, but with his blessings, and encouragement. |
