| This song is great, Midtown is one of my favorite bands..I'd have to say. But their songs are kind of emoish, anyways, i assume this song talks about avoiding things, and there's a moment when you can't avoid them anymore, and there's a moment when you don't know what to do or say, and there's no "direction", there's no where to go to. | |

| I'd have to say that this is my favorite Thrice song, it's their best song (in my opinion), not only because of the lyrics, the music is awesome also. To me, this song has different meanings, I suppose this song is about how he regrets something he did, or maybe he wants something he can have if he sacrifices what he loves the most, and maybe he did it and he sacrificed what he loved more than anything, and for doing that he got what he couldn't have before, but he thought nothing will happend, and then he had to face the consecquences of getting what he wanted before. So it kinda talks about a sin, something he really regrets and that he would die just to get back to normal again. It's pretty confusing but that's how i see it. "we'll let our passion bleed"..Hm, well for some reason this reminds me of death, but i'm not sure about it. Anyways, i suppose that means that he will sacrifice again to have things normal like they used to be, and he would do it if he dies. But i can be totally wrong about it, it's just my opinion =\. | |

Ok, here goes my opinion. Well, first of all. This song talks about someone who wants to be listened, of course. But not only to be listened, he also wants his opinion to be accepted in a certain way, obviously. But, it's like he can't be listened because there's something or someone that doesn't let him speak, i understand that when he says "Like in nightmares when ghosts steal your breath. I pray that power be not in my words" and "I Feel a presence in the room, I feel cold fingers close around my neck." ..He also wants something/someone to speak for him in case that something happends to him, or in case that this "someone" or "something" let's say..kill him for example? And this another person will speak for him, "without you i am lost" And "I pray that power be not in my words" I understand it because of that..So in this case i suppose he's not getting exactly worried about himself, right? Because he needs someone else to speak for him in case that something happends. I really appreciate this lyrics, I can relate to them and I have to say that Dustin really knows how to write songs, he's awesome at it, infact, he's the best song writter i've ever seen, and his songs are really meaningful to me, and i'm sure he knows exactly what this song means, hah that was dumb, of course he does, and well no matter what someone says we will always have different opinions and we have to accept it, but the real writter (Dustin in this case) knows what it means, I assume, so what i said up there is just my opinion. And about MTV, i don't think any Thrice fan wants this band to be on MTV, i don't want this to happend either. But what Thrice wants is to make their music popular in a different way, not by making MTV videos, not by letting someone exploite their music, good bands always know what to do in this case and i'm sure Thrice does. I agree with saviorcomplex in this case, no one can really say what "punk" is, just listen it to the songs and enjoy it if you like it, that's all, and i suppose we all have different music tastes. And i know this doesn't have to do with the subject, but i think their best song is T&C, awesome guitar, Teppei rocks =). |

| Well, this song to me is about friendship, and how a true friend helps you by hurting you (in a way) when you're going through something (drugs, love, etc.), "when one more kiss could kill you, they help you realize that", i suppose it means, that if you're about to get fucked for some reason or the situation you're going trough, they help you (by hurting you/stabbing you in the front) and they make you realize that if they "stab you in the front" you will find out that they did it because they're helping you find a better life or a better way to look at it, and it also tells you to accept the help a real friend is trying to give you. "shortcuts through graveyards and a brand new way to breathe"..But like foreverxisxtoday said..I could be totally wrong, that is just the way i understand this song, and i really don't know how to explain it very well. | |
