Punk is a genre! I don't care for it that much, although I like this song..which actually is punk/pop. Try to understand nfg kix bum...that there are millions upon millions of music genres out there. Hell you can make some up if you want to. Punk is a genre whethere you like it or not. I mean...how is it not a genre? What is blink-182? What is taking back sunday? Sum41? And...to boot....so called "punks" are a clique! ok ok....i wouldn't say that I agree with any of the comments above, but I would like to say that I am a alternative/rock girl. Favorites include Dave Matthews Band and Pearl Jam. However, my younger sister, who is 14, went the other way and started looking like kids I once made fun of. She started wearing funny shoes, big sweatshirts, and was obsessed with bands like Good Charlotte, New Found Glory, and Simple Plan. Since I'm the oldest, and this sort of style was very new to our parents, my sister's taste was not welcomed. I gave into her by telling my parents it was her own choice to dress like that and to listen to certain music. Now, they totally accept the fact that me and my sister are very different people. I love her to death and.....we share everything. I like this song a bunch. I never knew punk/pop could be this good really...until my sister started teaching me things about the "other sorta people."
In telling my little ephiphany, I have no prejudice against anyone who is punk: and the term punk is not politically incorrect. You are who you are. My sister is a punk. No, that doesn't mean she robs convenient stores and smokes butts in front of school, but she does go to punk shoes dressed like a goon--I'm sorry, but hey...c'mon look at yourselves. :) I'm so glad she turned like this, because it shows her inner self and it helped me realize that people who are different from you are not horrible, and they certainly do not deserve any rude comments. I'm sorry for anyone I ever gossiped about, just because I knew you were different. It's those little things someone can teach you that mean the world to me now. |

This song really has nothing to do with the Warehouse in Virginia. Well, in a way it does I suppose. This song is about the soul growing up, and eventually leaving the body. Pretty deep, huh? I think the reference to the Warehouse is about Dave growing up, and leaving the Warehouse in order to become famous and travel worldwide. My interpretion......it could be wrong for all I know. But then again, I feel that every DMB song out there has a million different interpretations, no one can really tell you what the song is about, it's an individual response to the song. |
