You're trying to say that Flea and Danny Carey are original, and Les isn't? Flea is a really generic funk style bass player. While Danny Carey is good, there isn't anything original to his style, and there sure as hell isn't anything original about Tool in general. Maynard James Keenan is an overrated singer, and doesn't even play any instruments. He's a good song writer, which is all you can really say about him. Not to say Les Claypool is the most original player ever. He didn't invent bass slapping, he just mastered it. Along with Geddy Lee, he's one of the few great bassists who also sings (although Les doesn't actually "sing"), and he's also half deaf in one ear. He's a prodigy. PS - next to Wynona's Big Brown Beaver, this is probably their worst song. |
