Just thought I'd comment on what "yall" had to say above... he/she was asking if there is a story behind the whole album which there is... It's about a friend(i think a past band member, i can't remember though) who injected so much rat poison that his body looked like a map and after the whole ordeal with rat poison he went into a coma for quite a long time. I can't remember all the small details so i'm being pretty general... Anyways the album is about this guy's life. They named it De-loused in the Comatorium after him and the fact that he was in a coma for such a long time.
Anyways The Mars Volta kick ass-and ya it's true you gotta be in the mood for them. I saw them open for System Of A Down and I wasn't in the mood for their music before System, but aside from that they put on a wicked show. |

Ya there is whispering at the beginning of the song. I could only make out a little bit of it, and I'm not too sure if it's exactly what he's saying cuz it's hard hard to hear. This is some of what I got: "You never let yourself to see what anyone can do. Until the money stops and now they're all laughing at you. It doesn't last forever. You can't..." i think he says you "can't get them back" ... not too sure cuz this is where the singing starts then he keeps whispering while the other one is singing ... the only thing i can make out of the part where there's singing and whispering at thr same time is something like "your standing ..." and "it hurts". So don't quote me, this is just what I got out of it. This is an awesome song by one of my favorite bands. I have missed their concert 5 times, including last Friday when they played with Ozzy ... so disappointed. Their new album comes out on June 17, 2003 so go check it out. I've heard some of it and there's some good shit on it. If anyone comes across the real lyrics he's whispering you should print it. Keep listening to Finger 11, and look at James' artwork. They are all so talented. |

One of my friends knows the lead singer and she asked him what the song means. He told her a story about one night when he watched his best friend get shot and then his friend fell and died in his arms while he embraced him. He wrote this song about that night. |
