well I had almost forgotten i had posted the above comment. after a 5 month break, we did get together again and still are. The break i guess was a good thing, and i still think this song is very meaningful to me regarding the whole thing. I'm surprised no other BDB fans have commented on this song, i think its a great song on the latest album |

This song means so much to me right now, i don't quite know if it's just a break or not yet but i have split from my girlfriend after 2 years and really devastated. from January she was travelling and wasnt due back til may but suffered 2 fits out there and came back 2 months earlier, this month, due to everything thats gone on shes taking a break from everything including me. i had been preparing a cd for her while she was gone of songs that remind me of her and also her travels. We saw Badly Drawn Boy at a gig in November and i soon after got this album. This song summed up how i was feeling "if your journey's over i hope you feel that i'm the one only time will tell" that line was the most powerful of any other song i wanted on the cd, it was hanging on my mind that she may not want to stay with me after travelling, and since the break this weekend i've kinda taken it as a break up song for me "Dwelling on the memories Is such a waste of energy It's simple when you see it in front of you On walls, in bedrooms" hearing the song after the break this verse was also powerful, because after leaving her i came back to my room with photos of her on some walls, etc. I truly hope we get back together and if we dont, so be it, but this song says anything and everything that i could possibly need to say to her |

oh and another thing, i'm not comparing but i find in a way it has similarities with 'Another Brick in the Wall Part 2' by Pink Floyd. i know it doesnt sound similar but it's more the meaning i find similar when he sings: 'And I wanna transform into a Tyrannosaurus Rex! And eat up all the bullies and the teachers and their pets' i think of the line 'Hey! Teacher leave us kids alone!', a rebellion against school. just a thought Another brick in the wall part 2 was also a Chistmas no.1............. |

i first heard this song in the early summer this year when i was shown the video on that website mentioned in the first post above. i've always liked that so much the video is really ace! then the website got popular, was released and was so weird hearing it on radio for the first time - without the video. the song is brilliant even alone and one and i think anyone can like it. the only thing about things getting released and eveyone then knowing about it despite others like me knowing it for a longer time is that you get people saying its crap, etc which is fine - everyone has an opinion afterall - but you no longer have the time when not many people had heard it and therefore all you had heard about it was good comments! i recently bought Nizlopi's album 'half these songs are about you' which includes the JCB song and i have to say im really impressed by their other songs! in some ways i hope the jcb song doesn't stay at no.1 or on playlists for long (altho Christmas no.1 is kinda nice!) as i'll hear more negative comments, spoiling it for me! but i also hope Nizlopi don't just get known as a novelty act which they aren't. if they release more songs or more people get that album, more people will see how good they really sound. |

A feel-good song if ever i heard one. Just really nice, a nice tone. to me the song recalls old fond memories you have, wishing u could relive them. and also to not worry about those in your life that have given u so much grief in the past - they really arent worth it and are half the person you are. i.e. "For all of those people who bleed by the side and split from their tongues and sharpen their knives. They never will get a life now they've got it so low " in the best of album they say about the song: "another drinking song. its is again another flag flier for strength in numbers" |

My favourite 80's song by far! just great. although its about war and the enola gay bomber (by the way is this also the first romantic song ever about an aircraft bomber??), i like the fact the upbeat and general feel-good tone to the song somewhat hides this and makes it seem happy. just love that 80's synth sound! and this is also about the only song i can do well on karaoke! |

firstly this reminds me of The Office as its played on the christmas special as Tim and Dawn finally get together! but it also has personal meaning for me theres this girl on my course at uni, a few months ago i used to really fancy her (but i had a rival mate who also did). i asked her out but she said no but we we remained good friends. i never lost the feelings though and she knew how much i liked her... for her 21st we went down to where she lives in surrey where we went out in the evening. at a nightclub she was dancing with my mate and they were kissing, passionately. i was very upset and broken! the night after she apolagised in a txt for her 'drunken insensitive actions' and how nothing more would happen as were both friends to her. 2 days later it was valantines day. i sent her a card, disguising my writing and not signing it. i also quoted lines from this song on the envelope. she worked out the card was from me, and said it was the most amazing card shes ever had, and its one of her favourite songs! i had no idea she even knew the song! so i'll always think of this song as something which helped me turn a really shitty weekend completely on its head and repair a strong friendship which really looked like it could be lost at one point. |

brilliant, reminds me of an amsterdam trip i went on during my year on an art+design foundation course before uni. i was listening to the album on a coach trip to some place, even if i didnt give me memories of that great trip i love this song anyway, altho it gets a bit eerie towards the end, after the female voice talking, when the music is played slowly in a fun-fair sort of style. very spooky! |

| 1 of about 3 songs which has actually made me cry. i associate it with a few things, such as listening to it shortly after i split from with my girlfriend, which really hurt and also the fact we'd often discussed what a great song it is. One other association of it, i'll never forget is of September 11th. i was at college and we had a 3minutes silence, along with the rest of europe, on the friday in the week that terrible event happened. in the college common room, we all stood in silence with a link up on the stereo to BBC Radio 1. as soon as the silence ended, the radio played this song, talk about very appropriate. i remember looking around as a lot of people were still kinda quiet, listening to the song, and seeing hardly one dry eye around. | althought this song is not original, as it was originally done by the Ronettes, it is one of very few songs which i actually prefer done by the ones who copied it. The voice and music are both superb for this song. i first heard it on an advert here in the UK for the yellow pages about this boy with glassed growing up and eventually getting married, etc. does anybody remember that??? its in my top20 songs ever and is definately one of the best love songs ever written i think | |

| I'm only 18 and saying a beatles song which was released about 20years before i was born, is my favourite all time song may not be a common thing of someone my age, but it is true. this has been my favourite song for the last two years and i think it always will be. I recently split from my girlfriend, who i believed was my true love, it really hurt and this song reflects the way i feel about her, and life, and often makes me cry listening to it. i don't think ive known a song with so much meaning. It's also one of those rare songs that you can actually describe as being 'beautiful'. | |
