I think it's okay to be against advertising, but lately it seems that everyone is trying to jump on this whole "anti-corporate" train. This pisses me off, basicly because Goldfinger who used to never sing about "anti" this, or "controversial" that, is now doing it and using it as a vehicle to sell their new album. If you want to open your eyes, read a fucking book. My advice is grab a copy of No Logo by Naomi Klein from a Library or bookstore. Watching a music video isn't going to open your eyes. A book will. So get off your ass, you herd of sheep are the reason why corporate America and the CEO's of the world are going to take over. |

What Turd said is close to what I think its about. But I think the message is more directed to fans of Tool's music, and no so much the media. Last Sunday I stumbled into Tool's show in Hamilton, to find Maynard had his back turned for the show, he wouldn't face the crowd while singing. So at first I thought that Maynard was being rude and disrespectful to his fans, but the truth is that Tool doesn't need/want my respect. Why do I feel I should be respected by Tool? They don't know who I am. Besides, no one even invited me in. |

Why don't we look into the music video for some answers: For example, at the end of the video we see the man turning into energy and then his third eye is opened. (Remember what Bill Hicks says at the beggining of Third Eye on Ænima about young men on acid). Other things that were in the video were that little man being torn apart by the man. And don't forget the men at the begining that cut the apple in half and there was a Star of David in the middle of the apple. Maybe there are good some answers or meaning that can be found in the video...... |

People who claim to be vegetarians will not eat meat because the believe it is wrong to kill animals. "Why," I once asked a friend who was vegetarian. She responded by saying that, "It's wrong to kill animals." "So killing plants is okay?" I said. "It's different. Plant's don't feel pain." My point in telling you this is that even though things don't feel pain does not justify an action. If you refuse to eat red meat because you think its wrong to kill something, then you shouldn't eat anything at all! Eating fruits and vegitables are the same thing because they are living organisms just like any other living thing. "Life feeds on life...." This last part I just wanted to toss in because it related to what I was talking about and I feel it is important: Now I don't know if Maynard is Pro-Life or Pro-Abortion, but the same thing is as follows. People claim that abortion is acceptable because a fetus does not feel pain. Oh, that is such of a disgrace! Like I stated earlier, just because it doesn't feel pain does not justify an action. The last part of the song is hard to interpret, but maybe it has something to do abortion (the knife and goo, the two people off in the woods [maybe they were making love, who knows]). |

This song always in a way reminded me of Disgustipated and how it repeats, "This is necessary. Life feeds on life feeds on life feeds on life..." And how it fits in with Disposition is that they both kind of have a simple message. Moving along to my interpretation of the song: "Watch the weather change." When I hear that I always think of things like global warming, how rainforests turn into deserts, etc. What Maynard is saying basicly is that we all just sit back and watch our environment melt away into a shit hole, meanwhile many of us drive around big SUV's and generate large amounts of garbage which just add to this problem. Everybody sits around while the climate changes but doesn't do a damn thing about it. |
