Vroom – One Last Chance Lyrics 21 years ago
He's always admired this girl. She's beautiful and smart and kind and the kind of girl you would want to marry. But she starts to... fall away. She starts to make all sorts of wrong choices. She gets pregnant. He feels the pain she feels. She's been in the right before, so she knows how terrible it is to be in the wrong. Before she flees her old life in shame, they exchange words--words they probably both regret. But she's gone. And that's it. He just wishes he could tell her that her life can still be saved.

Joey, that was very insightful. Thanks

Midtown – Like A Movie Lyrics 22 years ago
I used to like Midtown much much (fanatically) more than I do now. Not because of their increasing popularity, I'm proud of them for that, but because their sound has drastically changed. "Save the World, Lose the Girl" was beautiful and insightful and unique. "Living Well is the Best Revenge" is just a run-of-the-mill, seemingly-less-talented pop punk album.

Weezer – El Scorcho Lyrics 22 years ago
The Green Day part means just what it says. He asked her to go to a Green Day concert. She said something to the effect of "Green Day? Who's that? I've never heard of them."
He thinks it's so cool that she's totally not concerned about pop culture (or pop punk culture.)
That IS super cool. If i met a guy who was hot and interesting (like the girl this song is about seems to be) and he didn't know who Green Day was, I'd say, "Yeeeow!" and lick him.

Weezer – Tired Of Sex Lyrics 22 years ago
"i'm beat, beet red"

i think this song implies that he's not only emotionally tired of sex, but physically.

Weezer – Pink Triangle Lyrics 22 years ago
Spider, I definitely perceived the smoking line to be referring to homosexual oral sex.

i don't see how pot smoking would have anything at all to do with this song. the old-fashioned girl statement is like... in a different stanza (do weezer songs have stanzas?)

The Carolines – Everything Lyrics 22 years ago
This is probably my favorite song by The Carolines. It's very much in the style of Something's Corporate's slower songs like "Konstantine" and "Ben Franklin's Kite". Here's what I think it means:
There's a girl, who's trying to change him. He tries to change who he is for her, because he's so in love with her, but underneath it all (like every one who tries to be something they're not) he's just himself. In contrast, as he's gotten to know her, he's gotten to know her past. Probably the past, I imagine, before she came to college or something. He sees how she used to be, but how she's tried to change herself, too. This girl is obviously unsecure. Through her insecurities, their relationship falls apart.

Weezer – My Name Is Jonas Lyrics 22 years ago
Even though no one really knows what it means, it's still a really touching song. It gives you goosebumps and that heavy feeling in your busom that says, 'This is a good song!'

Deadsy – Itty Bitty Titty Girl Lyrics 22 years ago
great, pedophilia.

i can't believe that this is, as it seems to be, an endorsement of raping young girls (though who knows). in which case, i don't get it.

Commander Venus – My Other Car Is a Space Ship Lyrics 22 years ago
this was the first commander venus/conor oberstian song i ever heard. i could have sworn it was a girl singing.

Cat Stevens – Father And Son Lyrics 22 years ago
No, I definitely don't think it's about suicide. It's about the classic story of parent and child. Living, loving, but eventually the child has to leave the nest. The father knows this, though it hurts, and it's just advising his son, who is still young and prideful.

I'm moving thousands of miles away to college this fall. This song makes me teary-eyed.

Weezer – El Scorcho Lyrics 22 years ago
I took the online quiz: "Which Weezer Song Are You?" (Found at http://keightee.weezerfans.com/main.html ) I was El Scorcho! I had never even heard this song before then, but whoa, yes I am! Hehe. I love the part about Green Day, that is very cool.

I was reading an article about Weezer in the Dallas Morning News this weekend (they were in Dallas with Dashboard Confessional and Sparta on Saturday) and Rivers was talking about how Pinkerton was the most personal album he's ever made and in a critical backlash Maladroit is totally not personal at all. He says that though Pinkerton was a commercial failure, the fans seem to love it the most, requesting more songs from it at concerts than from any other CD. That's pretty cool, too.

Desaparecidos – $$$$ Lyrics 22 years ago
hmm... you've got to wonder if conor oberst is antisocial, what with his steady stream of bands and intense distate for not just corporate society, but society in general. maybe he was picked on for having such a high voice during his commander venus days.

Better Than Ezra – Circle Of Friends Lyrics 22 years ago

12 Stones – Broken Lyrics 22 years ago
IN ADDITION, these bands aren't 'Christian bands', per se. Their members are Christian, presumably meaning they have a belief that Jesus Christ as the son of God or is God, according to one's dictates. This does make a difference in what you're gonna hear out of them. It's your own decision whether you're willing to listen to 'secular' music or not. I'm proud of such bands for blurring the line between "Christian Music" and "Secular Music". I don't think there should be any distinction. Popular culture highlights all sorts of cultures, so why are Christians preaching to the converted and removing themselves from it? BE IN THE WORLD BUT NOT OF THE WORLD. Anyway, I'm not worried about any one's salvation being sacrificed by saying the word "hell". If you are, TAKE ACTION, write them a letter, tell them to have a discussion with their pastor.

Kenneth Cope – Tiny Hands Lyrics 22 years ago
Joseph and Emma Smith lost six of their children in infancy. One, an adopted son named Joseph Murdock, died from exposure to the cold while a mob tarred and feathered the prophet. Illustrating their sorrows, this song is from the CD "My Servant Joseph"

Dishwalla – Counting Blue Cars Lyrics 22 years ago
the members of dishwalla are christians, i think you're looking to far into the god as a "her" idea. i think the her is maybe just a semblance of childhood, of a child's open-minded towards religion. at first, i didn't really think this song was about a child dying. young children are closer to god, not so far removed. however, "shoes make hard noises in this place" reminds me of a hospital. i don't know. who does??

Kenneth Cope – Friends Stick Together Lyrics 22 years ago
i think this song is from a very very early EFY tape. i can't find any information about it on the internet. i'm ASSUMING it's by kenneth cope because the mp3 i found said it was (though that's never a guarantee). But, it definitely sounds like him and is very much in the style of "Room in the Inn"

12 Stones – Broken Lyrics 22 years ago
about the cussing: hello!?!

"but i fail time after time
daily in my sin i take your life"

that's the whole point of the song, no one's perfect. it's seems logical that the "hells" are whatnot are very intentional and very meaningful.

Phantom Planet – The Guest Lyrics 22 years ago
the cigarette is a metaphor for all the little things that have led to where they are now--not together. it may not be a girl, it may just be a friend, or a memory of a better time.

anyway, that's what I THINK.

Relient K – What Have You Been Doing Lately? Lyrics 22 years ago
we can't make anyone hold to their values, but fellowship is so important in strengthening one another. we should be there for our friends when they're struggling.
so, besides the moral of this story, i think this song has some really interesting bits of songwriting, like "parties friday through thursdays (but not for birthdays)" and "shrunk with her sweater" both of those lines reveal so much about each person's predicament.

Kenneth Cope – Ondi-ahman Lyrics 22 years ago
this song has so many beautiful subtleties. like the line, "growing old just speaks of dust that must return," from the idea that adam was created from the dust of the earth and upon his death will once again be just dust. all in all, just fantastic songwriting by kenneth cope, and a truly beautiful representation of eden, adam, and eve.

jackie chan, mr. miagi--okay. who's everybody else??
but that's not really what i had to say. i just discovered ash, loved their music, looked into it, seems like they're immensely popular. i can't imagine why there are so few posts. maybe the lyrics hold such meaning that people don't even need to share their opinions of it--the meanings are obvious!

Enya – Anywhere Is Lyrics 22 years ago
I was such a huge, huge, HUGE Enya fan back in my hippie days. This was the first Enya song I heard after like, Orinoco Flow, I saw it on Rosie O'Donnell and was MESMERIZED! I still have every Enya CD made up until about '99 in a drawer. Now I'm feeling inspired to get them out and listen. I would venture to say that Enya has made me a better person. I think going through my "Enya-phase" definitely made me more easy-going, more understaning of people, less quick to judge or to throw a tantrum. The music just emits serenity. Plus, the multilingual, multitalented, funkily-dressing Enya is a good role model for a young girl to have. I sound like a teeny-bopper professing her love for Britney Spears, but I'm serious. Deep in the soul of this current Rock and Roller lies the deep impact of ENYA.

This was my first BFS favorite song (Mr. Nice Guy, and then Tongue Tied later followed.) I have most of the lyrics to most of their other songs, but I have some blank spots, SO either Chad or whoever can post them, or someone can email me and tell me what they are and I'll post. OR you can listen to BFS in your sleep, let it infiltrate you brain, and learn the lyrics yourself.

Vroom – The Nicest Girl I Know Lyrics 22 years ago
This is a sad, sad song. The chorus and first two verses are utter praise of this 'nice' girl's divinity, while the bridge (third verse?) seems to imply that said girl has left him or that she never really even cared. He's obsessed, in his obsession imagines that their love is mutual, and yet he still wonders if she would even call him a friend.

I just want y'all to know, that I am completely unsure about the accuracy of these lyrics. Don't bet more than $5 on their correctness.
