| Absolutly no offense intended, but as unless you've found authorized lyrics (which haven't been released, to my knowledge), you don't know if 'your' lyrics or 'mine' are correct (or anyone else's, for that matter), so your implying that you were right, no questions asked, is kind of arrogant. Unless, acourse, you're Daniel, and then all is forgiven. And you don't understand the song... you understand YOUR interpretation of it. The only one who understands the song 100% would the the author. Sorry if I sound harsh, but I just have this THING for arrogance (and I'm not saying YOU'RE arrogant), and I tend to fly off the handle at the slightest whiff of it. Oh yes... RIGHT off the handle. I once beat the all-holy crap out of a guy cuz he was being an arrogant asshole. Like, we're talking black eyes and stitches. So yeah, once again, no offense, but saying that you're right and everyone else is wrong is just... wrong. | |

| Has anyone else noticed that there's been some strange ironies in the new lyrics? For example, in this song, there's the lyric, "hugged a man's arthritic shoulder"... and then a few months after it was recorded, guess who develops arthritis? THEN, there's the Hollywood issue. Hollywood was on the Without You single, but it was one of the first songs written for Diorama (and was originally played at Rock in Rio in January 2001). In this song, there's a line that reads, "I'm the first male lesbian"... and a while after it was written, Daniel and girlfriend Natalie were accused of being lesbians in an Australian newspaper ('Natalie's Lesbian Lover' was the headline, I believe.) Kinda weird, eh? | |

lol... my friend and I have spent SO many hours analysing this song, it's scary. Oh, and I have a few lyric revisions for you - could be wrong, but these are what we figured out: Instead of, "I feel the sun before it's light/ And it fades away into the night/ I was afraid of, "Feed myself or clean this shelf"/ "And kill for shame" ", we got: "I feel the sun before it's light/and it fades away into the night/I was afraid/I'll feed myself/I'll clear the shelf/and kill the shame" And we've never been able to figure out exactly the bridge... meh. At any rate, I think Asylum's about Daniel's battle with depression, and his recovery. The first verse would be about when he was still on anti-depressants (Contained in my cotton crib / Where I feel no turbulence), and the second one would be about realizing that it was ok to have "extreme emotions" (in his words) and just generally getting better (hence "I'll feed myself" -eating disorder reference). There's so much more to it, and I realize that my explanation makes no sense at all, but it's just hard to put into a few words what we've been analysing for weeks. I hope it's not TOO far out there to understand. |
