i always wondered about the apple being too big to touch. then my friend who heard this song for the 1st time w/ me, 1st time to hear john mayer actually said it probably is refering to New York & how the apple is too big to touch, or new york just felt too big to live in & the way that they said that john mayer talks about this song being about falling in love w/ the wrong person, it fits b/c he doesn't like the city & falling asleep to the sound of sirens ? come on, i doubt that's too pleasant |

hmmmm. you can really read any meaning into any song. if you wanted to relate the song to lost love, annonymous sex, childhood, anything really. it's just how you twist your mind to interpret it. but here we go, i'm going to give it a shot. i think the whole unicorn/merrygoround theory is right. & i think that the whole song is about beauty being unobtainable. w/ the stone falling through the pocket & hair flying away in the wind. it's like a rainbow, it's beautiful but there's no way you can hold it or keep it. & as for the badger & one eyed toad, i think they are there to depict the scenery and give you the fairy tale feeling & also to represent the wise old people who actually have brushed with beauty and understand the secret of it, how they can't own it but it'll be ok and understand how to appreciate it for what it is |

this is really quit amazing. it speaks about how incredible love can be and how love is like hell. those emotions contrast so much but it's all in the same song. that is sheer genious and chris deserves some type of award but does anyone else think all of the songs sound kind-of the same ? although, aerosmith, eagles, blink....most bands' songs do sound the same |
