| The Icarus Line – L.O.S.T. Lyrics | 20 years ago |

The Icarus Line sounds like the Strokes the way a freight train sounds like a Vespa. Anyway, yeah this song kicks some serious ass and, overall, is pretty self-explanatory. |

Hmm, I'm not sure about the chorus either. It sounds right, but like Captain Howdy said, the words don't quite seem to fit together. I looked up the original lyrics (it's a Devo song): "In ancient Rome there was a poem, About a dog who found two bones, He picked at one, He licked the other, He went in circles, He dropped dead" ...and they make even less sense. Ah well, neat song anyway. Also, people have been saying this album isn't very good. Well OF COURSE it's weaker than other APC albums; they didn't write it (for the most part). A collection of covers by any good artist is bound to be less powerful than an album of all-original material. As cover records go, this one is pretty damn good. |

Yeah, Billy sings lead on this one and "Freedom of Choice". I think he has a nice voice. He should sing more often. As for the song, it's pretty straight-forward, and if anyone needs the whole political-motivation thing explained, well then they must've been living under a rock for the past few months. Also, I voted today. I hope everyone else did too. |

| The Mars Volta – Ambuletz Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
This is one of my least favorite Mars Volta songs. This by no means makes it a bad song (hell, this is the Mars Volta, after all), just not "holy-hell-that's-frickin'-awesome-man great." This is the song tacked onto the end of some overseas versions of De-Loused..., and I think it sounds like a sort of resolution. North American versions of the record end with Cerpin Taxt killing himself because, I suppose, to him the story is over. But "Ambuletz" sounds like the reactions of the people he left behind: sadness and anger at their friend. "Oh, lord, you've made it"--> "There; you finally did it. Happy now?" Also, the word itself has stumped every encyclopedia I've tried. A Google search turns up only the Mars Volta info and TMV fans. It is not Spanish, Italian, French, or Latin. It is not an anatomy term, like some other confusing TMV words have turned out to be. The closest I have found is the root "ambulo-", Latin for "walk". Seems irrelevant. However, "bene ambula" is the term for "bon voyage" [French for "good trip"], which is often used as a good-bye. Maybe a "good-bye, friend?". Or maybe ambuletz= "ambulance", and the title is referring to how people would've mourned as the ambulance carried Cerpin's body away. The moaning in the song could then be a reflection of the sirens. Or maybe I'm reading too much into this all. Of course, I may be way off base here, but I'm having fun interpreting what no one else has had a crack at yet. |

I like your interpretations, al0k. Some of the earlier interpretations make sense, but I sorta can't see the Mars Volta writing a song about moralistic crap like, "sex before marriage is bad." Of course, Herorgy69 might be right, too. Back in the AtD-I days, Cedric admitted to having been high and just sort of making some of their lyircs up as he went along. whatever. sweet song, this. |

| Pearl Jam – Breakerfall Lyrics | 21 years ago |

it's been said that this song was written about courtney love. i don't know if that's true. but it's an interesting thought, i think. cool song, anyway. |

| Pearl Jam – Rival Lyrics | 21 years ago |

the columbine thing does make sense, especially with the parenthetical title of the song ("growing up gay in littleton", littleton colorado being the city in which columbine is located, if i'm not mistaken) as mentioned in the booklet. "barrels full" (as in the barrel of a gun, duh) , "unspeakable toll", etc, also make a case for that. this is one of my favorite songs. |

| Audioslave – Cochise Lyrics | 22 years ago |

| Tool – Crawl Away Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| does anyone know what's up with the music in the first twenty seconds of this song? if you turn it up really loud, it sounds like carnival music... | |

| Darwin's Waiting Room – Feel So Stupid (table 9) Lyrics | 24 years ago |
| well, this doesn't suck... although i'm generally not attracted to this type of "rap-rock" (because it's generally crap), i like this song. i saw DWR when they played in tampa a few years back. "feel so stupid" is probably my favorite darwin song. | |
| Orgy – The Spectrum Lyrics | 24 years ago |
| awesome! i've been looking to the actual lyrics (and the name) to this song for ages. it's one of the best, if not the best song on "vapor transmission". | |
