just like most people who have written about this song i'm relating it back to my relationship with my parents. my mom was valvictorian of her class, graduated from college with highest marks, and now is a successful business women. but, she constantly compares me to herself. if i get anything lower than a B she freaks out and tells me i'm not living to my "full potential". my dad was a star athlete. he's always telling me "le, go out for that team" or "le, why not play (insert sport here)". i have to live up to that crap too. but, i'm not like that. i care about school but, i try my best and if i don't get straight A's i don't give damn and if i don't make a team i couldn't careless. i'm more into music and other thing than to be worried about being the perfect child. i want to make my parents proud but, i'll never be like them, so i'll never be perfect. |
