| The Promise Ring – Happiness Is All The Rage Lyrics
| 23 years ago
|
what the fuck? ...reading the comments posted on songmeanings always makes me tremendously sad. first of all, how could anyone mistake the promise ring for dashboard confessional? good god, the promise ring's lyrics are so much simpler and insightful than dashboard's ever could be. while i admire chris carraba's lyrical talent, there is no comparison. also, i'm not one to keep up with who's opening for who, but WHY on earth would tpr open for jimmy eat world? again, no comparison. the same for a new found glory--the damn genre isnt even the same.
(oh, and by the way, i love this song. provocative, in a mellowed-out way, like many of their songs tend to be. great.) |

i guess my last comment didn't go through. i was going to say, now that i think about it, that this song isn't so much like lovers fighting, but an entire relationship going down. |

wakefield is good. yes, they are. this song is always on my mixes and... uh, it's extremely catchy. it's simple and to the point. god knows i'm sick of all the guys with baggy pants and polo shirts (westside!). by the way, the first line is great. |

Okay. I have to agree with a bit of what everyone's been saying. This is a beautiful song, and Chris IS a lyrical genius. But... it's still about sex, people. |

| Sayanything – All My Friends Lyrics

WOW. I didn't even know they were on here! WOO-HOO. Sayanything is a great band, and this song describes typical high school social life. Friends are hard to come by, at least those who can resist talking about you behind your back, and you really feel the brunt of that in high school. Haven't gotten Baseball yet, because, well, I'm slow. It's just me and my demo CD from a year ago. How sad. But anyway, where IS everybody else? Ha. I'm babbling, now. |

| Saves the Day – At Your Funeral Lyrics

can we stop talking about how long you've liked saves the day? there's a lot of that going on in all the lyric pages of any band that hasn't hit mainstream. face it, kids. great bands like std can't hide forever. names get out eventually, and high culture becomes pop culture. chill and enjoy. but, i can't say this is one of my favourite by them, either. through being cool, as other "old school" fans are saying, is by far their best album. and, i agree with beachgirl4433, up there. WHY are they opening for blink? the ability, style, and technique of blink-182 is not up to par with saves the day... maybe some of their tunes are catchy, but, how meaningful are the lyrics, really? not much, if you ask me. |

i love how the two bands are arguing through lyric and melody. emotions like this being expressed through song makes it even stronger than if they were spoken, yelled even. and tbs' side of the story is definitely some of the most powerful stuff ive heard. |

| Saves the Day – Sell My Old Clothes, I'm Off to Heaven Lyrics

so. i just had to put my two cents in, after reading this tremendous (well, not really) list of comments. this is by far, the most well-written saves the day song, lyrically, that is. the words are simple, but manage to convey a dark and devastating feeling, which adds to the ultimate power of the song. and i agree with you, necessity, that last line is my particular favourite. saves the day, and all saves the day fans, old and new... rock on. |
