Mourning-- Gee, I wish I lived in a bubble too! If you had done ANY UNBIASED RESEARCH AT ALL you would know the concept of tolerance-- a heroin (or more precisely opiate-tolerant) person NEEDS that much to get high if they have a big enough habit-- that is due to TOLERANCE. Read a medical journal, or better yet, read what the other side says (and by that I mean genuine authors who have done research & understand concepts like tolerance, not just net posts). Oh, and my guess, based on psychological training, is that he was trying to OD and had the gun there as a last resort, if the OD proved a failure. I'm not saying I *know* what happened, I could really care less (I mean, any way you slice it, Kurt's not coming back to earth); however, your "facts" are in desperate need of unbiased analysis. |

Hmm, Courtney's biographer (in "A most unauthorized biography") has nothing nice to say about her AT ALL, but yet, after examining & re-examining the evidence, AND interviewing several parties, many of whom didn't like her AT ALL, the author never concluded that she even MAY have done it. She never even entertained the theory, other than to acknowledge what was said and state the facts. Hmm, I wonder if YOU know better than HER, mourning... Esp. given that neither of you like Courtney at all (not that I'd be able to deal with her either, but you've got to respect the her determination-- I wish I had it--I mean, she made herself a star after being born ugly-- how many women can say that?!) Oh, by the way, I really hope you somehow end up in a convo with my friend, who likes to do a mock-depressive outburst in the midst of a lighthearted chat by saying "OMG, KURT'S REALLY DEAD!!" In other words, enjoy his music, etc, but GET OVER IT-- there's not a damn thing you can do. |

I read an interview with Dave Gahan (who still looks mighty yummy in concert BTW) and when he wrote the lyrics for this LP, he was "kicking heroin", and feeling guilty... so the unbearable pain must be the withdrawals, and the "whatever I've done" = being irresponsible, almost breaking up the band.."I've been looking down the barrel of a gun" = the threat of withdrawal, which is only subdued by MORE irresponsible, drug-addict behaviour. I think it's like a sort-of apology with explanation to the band & possibly the fans. |

Two words: Heroin withdrawal... after reading the "most unauthorized biography" of Courtney Love, what else could it possibly be? (Heroin is brown, hence the coral part, and the deer part, aka "deer in the headlights" part, must refer to the pin-point "I'm a heroin addict" pupils Kurt sported; also, the book talks about the runny nose coming from heroin withdrawal.) |

I once saw an interview with Courtney and she remarked on the album cover for this LP, with the crowned prom queeen on it, waving (elbow, elbow; wrist, wrist), thinking "OMG I'm Miss Universe!! I can't believe I won, no REALLY..." and how she loved it... with that said, I thik this song remarks on how you can look the part and still have severe problems ("I'm miss world, somebody kill me, kill me pills, no one is listening, my friends...") |

1) What Stones song? I guess it's not on my I-was-born-in-the-70's "Best Of" CD...
2) Cruel Intentions is awesome, and no, I'm not a teenager, but the things that happened in the movie do remind me of those years, right down to the "society girls with coke habit" stuff-- a timeless teen movie, like "The Breakfast Club"
3) The pt of living is to do stuff that DOES help your life, so it won't be such hell... I mean, if you're not planning on killing yourself anytime soon, there IS a point..

Another great song for when "I need to hear some sounds that recognise the pain in me, yeah...." For similiar depression fixes, I highly recommend "I want the one I can't have" for unrequited-love-depression, and and "Asleep" for the "I want to go to sleep and never wake up" brand, both by The Smiths.

This song is about the drug amyl nitrate, aka butyl or isobutyl nitrate in the States, a drug available at "head shops" and used as an inhalant, commonly by the male gay community-- think of laughing gas that lasts for a minute (I read that somewhere!! I swear!!) |

This song gives me the chills, given Moz's current situation-- reissue, repackage, repackage!" Until he releases new stuff, the record co's that own the older will doubtlessly give us "Best ofs Morrissey"-- and there's not a damn thin ghe can do about it. The irony is that this song was directed at the larger labels (I believe the SMiths were on Rough Trade, a smaller label when this was written) and now Moz refuses to sign with a smaller label, though he has a full CD recorded. AAARGH!! |
