Taking a trip through the halls of his memory, he can look back on the time he's spent in a place, where he sometimes wishes he can forget. And sometimes he does forget, with limited success "can't stop trippin' on these old roads" "like a pile of shit I can't seem to forget."
Once you go through a dark valley of your life, you're grateful for what it's made you. But you can't live there anymore, because it's not healthy, and those relationships you forged are now counterfeit, even though they once meant the world to you.
So, to survive, you've gotta cut ties with your past, those relationships, who you used to be, and move forward with who you know you should be now.
But every once in a while, it's okay to visit the old bones, and dust them off to remember and indulge in those memories.
But they still hurt, they still wound, and you can't spend too much time with them.

This song is about Merger Wishes, struggling against co-dependency, and mourning of the loss of a friendship.
I totally agree with clairelittler.
But, as far as, "there is no love lost that can't be found again, my dear friend"... I take that to mean:
The alpha friend has no appreciation for the efforts and meaning the narrator is placing into the relationship. If they aren't going to appreciate the effort, the narrator informs the recipient that, "Hey, just because i can't form a meaningful and open relationship with you doesn't mean that i'm incapable of forming that level of intimate relationship with another person.
So, "there's no love lost that i can find again", even if that means in another person.
The reason the narrator is hesitant to sever the friendship is that he honestly cares about the other person. And, there's sometimes fear that with the loss of that friendship, there will be a subsequent loss of an aspect of your personality, especially if they greatly contributed to your emotion development or well being.
Either way it sucks and is unfortunate, but you've gotta move on to those who are willing to invest as much in a relationship as you. |

This to me is an encouraging song. It's basically saying that it's time for change, and you can either stay down, or pick your self up and move like today never happened before. When i feel like i'm worthless, like God can have no use for me, I'm reminded that "forgiveness is right where you fell," and God has forgiven my sins. It's a challenge for me to live aggressively for God, not in a curled fetal position on the floor, taking life's kicks to the face. It's helped me alot, just my interpretation. |

The regret of the loss of some kind of relationship. Maybe between a freind, a friend, or God. I'm not sure, especially around the lyrics meaning, "you'll be around and i'll be square," Maybe that's talking about the literal differences between the two shapes, a circle and square, as well as the state of being at a certain place either in real life, or more than likely figuratively. |
