It's so simple, it's wonderful. Because it is so simple, it makes it such a beautiful love song. It makes me wish some guy would dedicate that song to me...it's just a great song about how you love the person for special (sentimental) reasons and you can feel the love that the lyrics have. |

It is so scary how true this song is. The girl is just becoming more and more unattached in the relationship. The 2nd verse is the most touching. He is trying to figure out why is in the relationship and anaylzing everything and when the girl realizes she might lose him, she "speaks to him in poetry" and everything is okay again. "Sometimes the more you wonder why, the worse it seems to get" is the truest line from the whole song. The whole "ignorance is bliss" belief is so prevalent in relationships. The more you start realizing the problems and the other person in a relationship, the more fights and disagreements come up. "You may believe yours are the wounds that only she can heal"...he seriously thinks that she is the only one that can bring him comfort and to take away all the problems. And in the end, the comfort that he gets is the only one that he will get. She is incapable of caring about him the way that he cares about her. |

The song is about relationship that is definitely down the tube. The girl wants to be friends again and wants to have comfort and for everything to be peachy for her. The guy is really struggling because he knows it's not and will never work. But a part of him wants to, he wants to "forget the past" and just go back to how they used to be. He misses that. The smarter part of him wins out in the end because he realizes that "they" are just too far away from ever being together the way he wants them to be. He decides to let it go, because he knows that no matter how much he would want to try, things would still be the same. |

This song is about a relationship that has already broken up. Reflecting on the relationship, he wants to try again, but he remembers what happens ("We just lie about it, as we become shadows of ourselves") He doesn't want to be without her, but he also knows that she doesn't really care about him and that being together wouldn't be any different than before they broke up. He is having a conflict within himself of whether or not the relationship should have another try, and even though it's obvious it won't work, he is still wondering. |
