Dylan released this song before Carter was imprisoned. Dylan knew he was innocent. Carter was clearly framed from the information released to the police. He was too far away when he was pulled over to have committed the crime and they never found any weapon as the song states. Carter was released from prison (in 1991 I believe...) He was innocent the whole time and Dylan knew it. He was clearly framed and it took the justice system way to long to release him. I am glad Dylan had enough belief in his thoughts to write the truth so the world can know how corrupt aspects of our society can be. |
