| This song is about his life as an orphan and is actually a letter to his deceased mother. For instance, "even though the moment passed me by" = doesn't remember the tragedy clearly, "i still can't turn away" = he must remember that he did have a past that was pretty normal, "the dreams you never thought you'd lose" = the dreams and expectations for the children (him and his siblings), and "don't belong to no one, thats a shame" = orphans. I have done a complete line by line analysis on this song and its interpretation as this.
