I think there has been a vital misinterpretation in this song which changes the meaning massively. where the lyrics are posting having him sing 'i don't care for your sweet scent or the way...', i think he actually says 'i don't care for your sweet centaur'. this leads me to think the song is really about a guy who is dumped for a centaur, a mythical beast, half man, half horse. The centaur's appears when the man is drunk, and not only did he steal the singer's girl, he also killed his mate romeo, who is a knight. There are 'archers in your arches' meaning that the singer cannot reach the castle to scald the centaur or he will get shot by the arrows of said centaur's minions. The song, then, revolves around the war inside the head of the singer, who drinks so that he can see the centaur in hopes of killing him and returning life to normal, but cannot reach the centaur to kill him, for fear of ending up like his best friend and fellow knight...romeo. |

ah dear me this song is awesome...nobody pumps out a simile like these guys, most of the time when bands try to play with literary techniques it sounds pretentious, but here its just natural, and honest. "She wore that phony smile on her face, i guess like a bandage on a wounded place", gets me every time, and puts things in perspective when i look at some of the people around me, and indeed myself. |

i think music is at a stage where theres a bunch of genres merging together, when i think of emo im more likely to think of bands like rites of spring, fugazi, still life, shit like that, but these songs are still what you could class as emotional punk, fuck classification i say, just listen to it for what it is |
