To me, it seems as though the religious metaphors are a clever device used to describe the strong physical attraction that keeps bringing them back together, though they know it is never going to work out in the end. It's like the relationship described in the Cure song "From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea". I love the part that is inspired by Jesus Christ Superstar: I believe you can make me walk I believe all you do is talk See my hands a mass of blood From scraping at your golden gates The lyrics from "The Temple" are: See my eyes, I can hardly see. See me stand, I can hardly walk. I believe you can make me whole. See my tongue, I can hardly talk. See my skin, I'm a mass of blood. See my legs, I can hardly stand. I believe you can make me well. See my purse, I'm a poor, poor man. Will you touch, will you mend me Christ? Won't you touch, will you heal me Christ? Will you kiss, you can cure me Christ? Won't you kiss, won't you pay me Christ? Go find the cover of "The Temple" from the Afghan Whigs album "Congregation" (1992)! That's the only reason I recognized where that part came from, and decided to come here to figure what the song meant. :o) |

I love the video for this song... so Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo India November Golf Hilarious?! I haven't seen anyone mention what the guy at the beginning of the video says, "Fish don't fry in the kitchen". I had to Google it, turns out it's a lyric from the Jefferson's theme song: Fish don't fry in the kitchen; Beans don't burn on the grill. Took a whole lotta tryin' Just to get up that hill. Now we're up in the big leagues Gettin' our turn at bat. As long as we live, it's you and me baby There ain't nothin wrong with that. Well we're moving on up... |

Damien is singing about violence in the White Center community of Seattle. The line in the first verse is not "white lie". it's "wild night". |

| Louis XIV – Finding Out True Love Is Blind Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| This band is great. I saw them open for the Futureheads and Hot Hot Heat. I get a serious "Rocky Horror" vibe from a lot of their new songs. I can almost picture Tim Curry singing this with a maniacal smile spread across his face... and of course the backup singer would have to be Susan Sarandon. | |
