| this is a beautiful song, not so much lyrically as it the way it is sung. the lyrics are really simple and the voice ben uses is as soft and mellow as he usually is. | |
| Mineral – Love Letter Typewriter Lyrics | 22 years ago |
| it's so good you almost don't realize it's only 50 words long. And 3:40 in length. i love the last lines ... and i don't think mineral will ever know how much i love them for that :-/ | |

| this song is pretty obviously about jesus, but it doesn't have to be. 'jesus' is an exlaimation to most people, so the last line could just be to someone in general, not necessarily to christ. seems like many mineral songs are about normal people if you find a way to ignore the obvious divine aspect. | |

sometimes mineral songs do seem daunting in length (my favs are all 5+ minutes long, which seems like an eternity given the average length of songs) but when you actually listen to them, i swear it doesn't seem like that long. there's many mineral songs that i used to skip over that, after i listened to them ... REALLY listened to them ... i found that they are among my favorites. |

| Mineral – If I Could Lyrics | 22 years ago |
| i never thought the last line was about god. i figured it was about the girl and how he worshipped her. or how she was deserving of worship. | |

on the same thread as dora ... some people find happiness in their unhappiness. the first part of the song (before "you will ...") sounds like it's recorded badly and then clears up when "you will." sort of foggy before he realizes that and much simpler and happier when he does. i love the final part of the song. one person said they fast forward to that part. i can relate but i think it's the best part because of the other part. sort of a "sum is greater than the parts." |

mjl139 - good observation, but i don't think he was going for that line of thought. "and sometimes scars are tracks" --> probably the most likely to be drug-related, but i believe he's just saying that you can trace his wounds (metaphorical) back to a certain point, a certain spot. "And everyone watched me waste myself And everyone cheered at last And all of them found it comforting Its better it's me than them." --> the break up left him battered and bruised (and wasted) and everyone else was relieved it was him (or at least was not them). they've gone through bad breakups and are relieved that it's someone else. "they've taken both my belt and shoelaces away" --> nice observation, but i think chris was going for more of an insane asylum/crazyhouse/mental hospital/prison aspect on this one. they take away your belt and shoe laces when you are a suicide risk. kinda self-explanatory, but he's feeling trapped (incarcerated, jailed, in himself, or his heart, or his mind) and they took away things he might hurt himself with. so maybe it wasn't heroin. then again, mjl139, maybe it was :) |
