Jenny Lewis – Fireplace Lyrics

I quite enjoy this song. I wish it was longer. It's fun and catchy. I especially love the line "got my pistol got my money and I've got you honey." It just makes me picture sweet, cute little Jenny Lewis sitting next to a roaring fireplace holding a pistol after robbing a bank. |

I heard this song on the credits to Orange County. Something about this song sounds really familiar, even though I had never heard it before.
So..stupid question...has this song been done by someone else before? |

I've always loved the lyrics to this song, but I really have no clue what the mean.

Our Lady Peace – Do You Like It? Lyrics
|
My opinion of the song is that Raine is directing the lyrics towards the radio and listeners in the USA. It's about trying to write the kind of music people will like, not just writing what he wants to. So he's like, fuck it, I'll just write a song about that and I'll write it in a way that it will be appealing to people.
I don't really know how to word what I mean, but I understand myself. |

This is my favorite song from Gravity also.
I am going to see Our Lady Peace on thursday the 25th, but I find the fact that Mike won't be there quite depressing. |

I think it's about depression, giving up on beauty (all this our beauty is just decay), and feeling like no one understands you (those missle men with their master plan don't get paid to understand). I'm also sure that last lyric is referring to psychiatrists. |

I saw Sparta live last night with Weezer. I had never heard them before, and I must say, I was very impressed. I liked ATDI but I kind of forgot about them. Sparta is a good thing.
I like Thursday also. Good stuff. |

Something Corporate – I Want To Save You Lyrics

When I first heard it, I was convinced that they were implying that New Found Glory (the band) smells like sex. "scent of sex and New Found Glory." but then I realized the next word is "playing". Damn. |

Matthew Good Band – Load Me Up Lyrics

I think this song is about realizing that everyone is evil in certain ways (there's bodies in your basement, if heaven's for clean people it's vacant).
And I should also mention that while the band left, Matt Good is now solo and still going strong. |

The Get Up Kids – Campfire Kansas Lyrics

I was at a Get Up Kids show last night. I noted that the new songs are a little bit harder to get into at shows...you know. They're mellower. But still, they performed beautifully. I bought the CD the day it came out and I like it. I like everything by the Get Up Kids.
This is also my favorite song on the CD.
And who can't love a band that sells sky blue shirts with panda bears on them at their shows? |

Our Lady Peace – Julia Lyrics

LiveUrLife, you are right. I'm pretty sure I read in an OLP interview somewhere that this song was written about a girl who used to be into prostitution.
Now this song is an example of when OLP wrote amazing songs. None of this Gravity piddle.
And yes, the piano version is beautiful. One of the best songs I have ever heard. |

Our Lady Peace – Innocent Lyrics

Our Lady Peace has been my favorite band since I was 14, and I am dissapointed with Gravity.
This song is one of the worst. When I first heard "Life", that was pretty bad, but this is worse. It might as well be called "Life v. 2.0".
The new CD as a whole is much less thought out lyrically and manufactured to appeal to the mass public.
Not that Our Lady Peace doesn't deserve to be popular with the mass public. I just think it's sad that they had to lessen the intensity of their music to accomplish it.
And don't you dare tell me they haven't lessened their intensity. There is no way in hell you can listen to "Naveed" and then listen to "Gravity" and still honestly think that. |

Dashboard Confessional – Age Six Racer Lyrics
| 22 years ago
|
This song is not about a summer relationship. It's about the story "The Rocking Horse Winner". If you don't believe me, read the fucking story.
This song is called "Age Six Racer" because the story is about a little kid who "races" on a rocking horse and predicts the winners of horse races. Therefore you get Age Six Racer. He does this to get money by betting on the races, because he knows that his mother loves money more than she loves him. So he gets all this money in hopes of gaining his mother's love, and that's why the song says "I gave you the best that I had".
He has his uncle go to a lawyer who then sends a letter to his mother saying that an anonymous family member is going to give her a certain amount of money every year on her birthday. That is why the song says "You passed on the letters and passed on the best that I had". He's talking to his uncle at that part.
The story takes place in Lexington, Kentucky which is a major horse racing place. That's why the song says "I hate the winter in Lexington".
And finally, at the end of the story the little boy dies, and that is why the song says "So long sweet summer".
Read the story and you'll agree with me.

Thursday – I Am The Killer Lyrics

I think this song is about doing a really fucked up thing that you regret, and having overwhelming feelings of guilt. I am the guilty. "I am the Killer." But you can't change the letters when the ink dries. |

Saves the Day – A Drag In D Flat Lyrics
|
I don't think this song is romantic. It's about love hurting you. It's about having such an intense psychological pain because of another person, that you think it would hurt less to drag yourself 200 miles with just your fingernails, which, metaphorically speaking, is exactly what you are doing. |

EmokidAlex, you are awesome.
To me, the song is about an old friend you're thinking about. someone who played a major part in your life at some point. And you know they're out there. And you miss them. And you hope they remember you. |
