my least and favorite part about music is how it can completely identify with a certain period of your life. I love it b/c when i want to be reminded of that time it's great...i listen to a song and i'm there. But then sometimes i love the music and don't want to be reminded of that time. Lifehouse's 1 cd no name face reminds me of 10th grade so much that i can't listen to it without being put back in my pathfinder with my best friend driving around. the 2nd cd reminds me of 12th grade and my boyfriend. When i listen to music i can taste the air that was around when i listened to it...my memories are so clear and precise. it is crazy. John Mayer's room for squares reminds me of the summer before 12th grade. I can't listen to it without being reminded of driving on a backroad looking for sliding rock. I love that music is so deeply connected to who i am and who i was. But it's so hard to enjoy it for itself when i have so many emotions tangled up in it.
