I have started recording Allman Brothers' albums to cd yesterday. I did a later double live album, their first and Idlewild. I did not know that the Black Crowes' song "Dreams"is a cover of The Allman Brothers song. They improved over the years but their music quality suffered without Duane. You don't see a lot of bands with two drummers and I also noticed that they had two lead guitarist sometimes playing the exact same part at the exact same time, making it sound unusual. They weren't just pioneers of Southern Rock, they were an awesome jazz act as well. Duane's solos are pretty orthodox and Greg's vocals are soulful and rough around the edges. I can't wait to record the rest of them and let them sink in and percolate a while. Maybe I will write about them sometime.

This site looks like a lot of fun. I write for fun and have my own blog at: musicorelse.weebly.com Put it in the URL. I am also a lifelong musicdevotee. I like all genres except opera and rap. My age is catching up with me. I never married or had any kids. I played guitar many years and once owned a vintage custom PRS, one of the best electric guitars ever made, especially the year it was made. New PRS's are as crappy as every other kind. Save the money and get a Fender Strat. It was good enough for David Gilmour, it is good enough for you. I have a college degree and have had my writing published in a journal and some magazines. The most interesting job I ever had was working at an indie label for three years. Some of the people I worked with became rich and famous and some became paupers. I am more on the pauper side. Good thing so many of life's pleaures are free; like music and being here on this site. I look forward to much discussion with many people...
