Country Music in Today's Time

The role of country music has been greatly redefined. From Traditional to Outlaw we have come to a turning point....Pop country? WHAT?! No I am serious, this is a new genre thanks to artists such as Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift and Lady Antebellum.
I remember there was a time I couldn't get my mother to listen to anything country until I popped in a Taylor Swift CD and she didn't mind it, now she thinks she is a country fan because she listens to Lady Antebellum... o-O That's the problem you see true country fans are very loyal when it comes to the artists, they don't choose one over the other because if it wasn't for the legends, they would be no new country.
So it pisses me off when I see comments such as "this is real country music," or "if you listen to so and so then that means you aren't a real country fan" because in truth country music is possibly the only genre I can think of that has a bunch of tiny genres inside of it. You've got outlaw, traditional, folk, pop...etc
Mind you country fans are the most loyal fan base which might be the reason they are so unwillingly to change their view on the new direction country is going and I totally understand that. My only fear and I bet some people share it is that if Pop Country is there, then as time goes on the Country part of it will be gone and they will only be Pop hence Country music getting lost in the shuffle...
I am just paranoid. :P
