• The Ruby Suns/The Western States Motel

I tend to think of music in terms of their seasonal qualities. Some music is innately "winter music" or "summer music." I have found a perfect summer band that makes me wish I was basking in the sun on a beach instead of cuddled up on my couch in the dredges of winter. Therefore I'm telling anybody that they should download the debut album from The Western States Motel from iTunes, pack it away until the first ray of warm sunshine hits in the spring, or after finals for the summer..rediscover it...and be happy that they did themselves this favor. Also, The Ruby Suns would be a perfect accompaniment on a summer night. I imagine it's ambient melodies perfect for the bit in the air when the sun goes down, and the lilting voices of those New Zealanders the perfect end to a busy day on a beach.

  • Tim Williams/Twin Shadow

I've been listening to two albums tonight that have been utterly lovely. Tim Williams' 'When Work Is Done' is so honest. The stories that play out in my mind are dreamy yet so realistic. It's like a gambit of the emotions we feel. The search for a cure for loneliness or something. I was so in awe that I started transcribing lyrics, which I've submitted. I especially like "I'm Wearing It," and "Bills." There are such simple, heartwrenching truths here. And Twin Shadow's 'Forget,' is this dreamy look into relationships. I was bopping my head along with the new wave beats instantly. Good albums that I would recommend to anyone in an instant.
