I've been concerned about the 9 suicides in one school district here within the past 2 years. The school has a policy that threatens to fire any school employee who defends a gay kid. The U.S. Department of Justice has an "ongoing" investigation. MN legislature succeeded in disestablishing themselves from the issue when a ballot measure was proposed to let the majority rule the minority on this issue. They put on a good show but passed the bill and now starts a culture war where each voter will vote on the validity of gay's within the larger society. My concern is for the kids coming home from warfare at school to watch media bully them more. To one Priest I had to say "I'm talking to you now father." sternly, because he instinctively started going into some meditative state when I began speaking clearly my concern. To another Priest I presented my case and was handled with skill. Nothing seemed to touch his heart. But he stated he appreciated that I spoke from mine. Another young Priest was about as clueless as a yellow lab, true in his humanity but finding trouble with the words put in his mouth. I pray for him. Not just because he's cute. But because I see hope for him. My best guess is that human emotion is some kind of commodity for people in power. If they can get us watch their pendulum of democratic choice then they keep control. My worst guess is that they are sniffing for innocence. Looking for a feast.
