  • Happy Memorial Day!

by JuliaLaughed on May 31, 2010
My family is really big on celebrating all these holidays; Memorial Day, Fouth of July, Veteran's Day... It's big because a lot of my family has been in the military. My grandpa was in the army during WWII, and he was almost shipped out to Germany, but they surrendered already. My great-uncle was one of the glider pilots on D-Day at Omaha Beach in Normandy. And a really close family friend was in the Battle of the Bulge. My dad - way before I was alive - was in the navy. Luckily, when he was in it, there wasn't any big conflict then. He was just on ships around Alaska and Africa. My uncle was also in the army when nothing was going on. But now, with all the crap going on in the world, I just wanted to say thank you for whoever is out there putting their lives on the line for us. People you don't even know. A couple of days ago, my mother and I were at the store. You know, close to Memorial Day how they have those veterans in the stores looking for donations? Well there was this old man, and a young marine or something next to him. My mom went up to the man and gave him a dollar. He smiled and said "God bless you." My mom turned to both of them and said "Thank you." And the young marine was like "For what?" And my mother then said, like it was the most obvious thing in the world, "For putting your life on the line everyday." The young boy just kind of shrugged it off and gave her a weird look. That annoyed me, very much for some reason. If you aren't proud for what you're doing for your country, then why be there asking for donations? I don't intend to sound mean one bit, that just annoyed me. Well, go out and have some burgers while celebrating our heroes! They sure deserve it.

Personally, I'm getting sick of all these crazy fangirls. No, I'm not saying I have a problem with people liking something and wanting to meet people who like the same thing. But, you people are starting to worship it like it's fucking Jesus. Examples? Hannah Montana, Twilight, Jonas Brothers. Ugh. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big Twilight fan. I don't know why, I usually hate reading. But when I started reading those books, they just drew me in. I think it was because I could relate to the main character. Other than the fact that she was getting stalked by a sparkling vampire, cause if that happened to me...well, I may be in an asylum right now. But these little girls, walking around with their phones and fake nails and orange skin talking about giving head to guys and the latest scoop on the "almight Robert Pattinson" is making me sick. I just don't get it. When I was ten, I wasn't parading around my local store talking shit about everything. I was sitting at home watching good ol' Boy Meets World (which is the best show in the world, by the way). Now, girls are looking up to people like Miley Cyrus. Really? HER of all people? Anyways, back on track. Fangirls - you all need to calm down. Stop treating these books and stuff like they're the Declaration of Independence...or the Bible. It's getting way out of hand. And haters, can't you let these people have an opinion of their own? Kthanks. Well, there's my rant for the night. Till next time. ; Oh, and Taylor Lautner is ugly. Cough.
