The Internet
by techadverse on November 12, 2009Found this awhile ago and have no clue who said it or where it came from but I thought it was brilliant. It was like someone sucked the words directly out of my brain. I am sorry if you said it and I am not giving proper credit where credit is due. But I'm all about forgiveness so I hope you who wrote this are too.
Interviewer "Whaddya think about the internet?"
Brilliant Individual "I smell a bit of a rot in it.... it's a strange universe, the analogy for tangents of the mind we've created out of electric waves and circuits, I still can't quite wrap my head around it.... The gargantuan impact it is having on all of our lives. I feel it is like a parasite and my brain can become infected by it sometimes. It is beautiful (this is me now and THAT part is hogwash) in an ugly way. It is huge and dangerous. It seems out of control. Sort of like a cancerous growth we are growing for a scientific experiment, but maybe in actuality it's more like a microscopic metal fungus that burrows further and further into the fold of our brains every time we plug into the web to observe it. We cannot observe it without it slithering (LOVE THAT!!) it's way into our psyche. Our gaze on it gazes back into us and paralyzes our attention, holds it hostage, settles into the cells, stills the body... Something is entrancing us, feeding us, and what's being funneled into us, into our brain receptors, while our bodies turn numb and time gets gulped away? I believe it is mostly not so good (ahahhahh! That part cracks me up). I definitely do not trust it."
So yah. My mantra for everything in my life used to be "just say yes"... Now......when it comes to technology I have decided to change my mantra a skosh and abide by "just say yes a wee bit".
