Does it matter why the song was written? No. A song does not have one meaning, but many, as with all things. The songwriter wrote it for himself, but also for everyone else. The intentions of a songwriter when writing is for his or her song to impact/affect every person differently. Each person is meant to get their own meaning out of it. So despite the meaning he implied for himself, what do you get out of it? What is it telling you? What emotions do you feel when you read it? How can you relate this to yourself or someone you know? How does it help you understand something? Questions like these are what you should be asking yourself when you comment on a song. Then comment telling us all what YOU got out of it, that is what we are really curious about. =]
