    (8) the best things about sewing kits are the different colors of thread The wind that morning was brisk and warm. She'd been walking for about three hours by the time she noticed the tear in her dress. A loosened piece of fabric swirled around her ankles, dancing with the wisps of dust being carried by the wind. I really do need some more threads, she thought. If the carrots come in good this year perhaps I can trade for some. The sun continued to rise high above the distant mountains but she'd taken this path so often that she hardly noticed it. Every step seemed like five more. Back in the earlier days of her job she'd taken a liking to skipping, singing, sometimes running through the route, but she saw little point in that now. Boredom was her friend, it helped her to carry on. In the distance, the roof tops of her village made themselves present. She smiled. Not bad timing. I should be able to get at least three hours of sleep this afternoon. Sniffing from the cold winds earlier that morning, before the sun had even come up, she let the warm winds blow her headdress off her head, and it settled on her shoulders. This far away from the village she could get away with it, but when she could see people she would have to put it back on. And indeed she did when a building finally passed her by. A woman working on her garden patch glanced up toward her. "Good morning, Minha." "Good morning." As she continued on, more women stopped to give their compulsory good morning greetings, some tapped their shoulders out of respect; she did, after all, have a very important job. Out of the corner of her eye she could see some younger men and boys smiling towards her, she smiled back staring straight ahead. Pushing open the thatch door to her yurt, she pulled off her head scarf and slid the long white robe off her shoulders. Dropping herself down on the sleeping mat she fell into an almost instant sleep. Outside, a tall man in a red robe slid a note underneath her door, greeted the man across the trail from him, and wandered off.

Waiting for the bus is awkward. You get to the bus stop and just stand there in silence. Sometimes someone will ask you what rotation it is at school or if you have the time, but typically they don't bother to. Even if you are with a friend it is awkward. I am never with a friend. Sitting on the bus is equally awkward if you are not sitting with someone you know, worse, if you are sitting with someone you do not know and across from someone you know but are not friends with. Because god forbid you should listen in on a conversation and smirk or grimace, because then they might bug you about it later on. Everything is awkward.

so this one time at the movies, with me and Cay a man stopped us and said you can't go in there, it's rated R and we're like okay then we'll sneak in. and he said what? and we said nothing. so we meandered on outside and milled about until the man had left then we came back in and went into the theatre room and very much enjoyed our movie and our criminally sized slurpees that had been snuck in too and good times were had by all! except this didn't happen. I more or less made it this all up on the spot. except for the part about the slurpees. that actually happened.

"What do you have to say about the state of the streets? There's trash everywhere!" "TRASH CANS!" screams the lady, closing the door to her limousine. "MORE TRASH CANS! KILL SOME HOBOS AND SELL THEIR ORGANS! TIJUANA!" The limousine speeds off into the sunset leaving the reporter baffled beyond belief. "Henderson, you seem puzzled," remarks his assistant. "as if you had more questions to ask." "Yes Quinton. I had questions. Many, many, many questions." He shrugs and wanders off. In the distance, a passing hobo is struck by the limousine, and the lady almost chokes to death on an avocado pit.
