mando diao, originally hailing from sweden and enjoying huge fan bases in scandanavia, germany and japan, aren't all that big here in north america. well, by that i mean they are litereally unknown except for exception like me who heard one song by them and absolutely fell in love with them. the first song i have heard by mando diao was the wildfire (if it was true). i remember this so vividly because it struck me right in my heart, like all good rock songs. and thats what mando diao is, pure unadulterated rocking out. they aren't afraid to get down and dirty with their music. anyway, their new CD, "give me fire", came out yesterday and after much hassle i finally got to listen to it and let me just say i was blown away by the first track "blue lining white trenchcoat". i like it even better than their huge single "dance with somebody". it's not that their lyrics are particularly beautiful, or they possess musical prowess that is above and beyond any other band, but their pure rock spirit is obvious to me, and should be to anyone who listens to them. if you've never heard anything by mando diao i suggest you do so now, i swear on my honor you wont be let down.

the lastest project by steven wilson, best known for his lead role in porcupine tree, i have stumbled upon, is named "blackfield". i like it, in a nut shell. some on the most beautiful and melodic lyrics i have ever heard. "If you knew The man I used to be/ Please hold me under the sea/ Or scratch my arms till they bleed/ Save me/ Will you help me to feel?" i know it sounds emo, whatever you wanna call it, but no one can deny the beauty and power in such words. blackfield also has nice gentle guitar parts, raging metal screaming guitars, crazy keyboards, in a nutshell, everything is bang on.

well, this is my first, lets ge tit off to a good start here. firstly, i'm not going to be tlaking about bullshit here, only music, and anything related to. secondly my list of "favourite" bands or artists is so long that i'm not going to bother going into much detail, but i like; mando diao, rush, the tragically hip, porcupine tree, the police, oysterhead, april wine, arctic monkeys, no-man, vertical horizon and i think i'll cut it off there. i dont really expect anyone to know every one of my favourite band, they're pretty far flung. but as long as you know one or two, we're gonna get along just fine.
