• Desert Island Discographies.

If you were stuck on a desert island and could only bring along the music of several bands/artsists, which ones would they be? Choosing a band means that you'll have access to their entire career output of recordings. This incorporates anything that the band or artist(s) ever *released*--studio albums, live records, boxed sets, singles, etc. It will not include existent recordings that were never released. I thought about this. It didn't really take that long to identify some of the leading candidates. First of all, just to be fair, I am going to disqualify classical composers. If they were eligible, JS Bach and Mozart would definitely be included in my desert island knapsack. The problem is that it is difficult to evaluate them on a level playing field alongside modern artist, primarily because each of their numerous works has been interpreted, performed, recorded and released numerous times and in a variety of different ways. This is too great of an advantage. The Who -- includes all live CD's, deluxe edition albums, and concert DVD's, including the freshly minted Live and Leeds 40th anniversary edition. If I had to bring just one, it would probably be this.
