Desecration smile - RHCP
Well, to me this is about suicide and self harm. This may be an over used idea for lots of songs out there but I think it fits with this song in particular.
"Another girl bad for my health" this doesn’t have to mean a girl but a method of self harm used (or abused) to feel worthy. And the next line "I’ve seen it all thru someone else" suicide can 'run in families' to some extent.
"Celebrated but undisturbed" is like being told you are good as you are and that the world needs you, but people otherwise doing noting about it. "It’s seldom seen but it’s never heard" the aftermath is seen but lots of times suicide isn’t something announced rather than silently implied.
"Never in the wrong time or wrong place" there was an accident that they could be in then they wouldn’t have to think about suicide or the guilt that it leaves for people, just die of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
"Disintegrated by the rising sun" each day brings new things that are unbearable. "And I’d like to think that I’m your number 1" perhaps if he meant that much to just one person they might do something to help him stop and realize life can be worth living.
"I wanna leave but I just get stuck" every time that he tries there is one more ting that he has to do first and no way of getting out of it.
"We could all go down to
Malibu and make some noise
Coca Cola doesn’t do the justice
She enjoys" finally something worth living for happens but it is short lived as stated in the next line, "Something new to be destroyed
We could all go down" which is like another memory to destroy in his haste for death.
"I love the feeling when it falls apart" no matter the help he gets he has a feeling that noting will help and he doesn’t really care (after all, we all die sometime). The end is eventual and he wants it now. "I’m slow to finish but I’m quick to start" this is the line that represents self harm to me. This means being slow to finish the whole thing of killing himself, but being quick to start the cutting or the drugs or the plans to commit the perfect suicide.
