Summer's here. Summer has this warm way of keeping me busy yet making me really take a look at my life. Everywhere around me, things are so confusing. Flip on the radio, turn on the news, read the paper... No matter what I do, I hear all these people shouting out their opinions in this way that makes them sound like facts and makes me secondguess myself. I was driving to go pick up sushi around seven-thirty tonight, just as the sun was starting to go down. Even in my small town, the streets were crowded. Stopped at a red light, I noticed out of the corner of my eye this guy riding his bike on the sidewalk. And it made me think, ya know? What ever happened to biking? Seriously, I remember when I was like seven and all I did was ride my bike. It wasn't just me, either. We all rode bikes. Come on, what was the most kick-ass Christmas present when you were like nine years old? A Schwinn, no doubt. Now we stand in line to pay small fortunes for gasoline. Parents buy their kids golf carts and electric scooters and all sorts of nonsense. Why can't we walk anymore? I went to the town track today to run a little. It was almost ten in the morning. It was me and this old guy. That was it. I remember going to the track with my mom when I was younger and there were at least ten or twelve people there at any given time. What happened?.. We're loosing ourselves. We're falling apart. We're getting too lazy. Sometimes.. Things seem hopeless. Times are always changing. But why is it that here lately, it seems to all be changing for the worst. During Vietnam, people all over the nation were outside protesting the war and promoting peace. In 2007, if we have an opinion, we put it on a bumper sticker. What the hell man, what the hell..
