i had to watch a video in one of my classes i wasnt that interested at first but now its the only thing i can think about after watching it. the video was "Invisible Children the rough cut". the video raises awarness about what is going on in northern Uganda. There is the LRA (Lords Resistanace Army) made up of child soldiers that caputre other children and are forced to kill or be killed. many times that means killing members of there own family and friends. The LRA captures kids and they either are turned into child soldiers, sex slaves, or are killed and few escape in comparison to the number captured. The other children were displacesd from there homes with there families and the newer living areas are not protected from the LRA so children go on night commutes sometimes walking miles every night to avoid being caputred. This has been going on for 20 years. That means AN ENTIRE GENERATION HAS NEVER SEEN PEACE. This goes on with all of the other problems people face in day to day life there to - starvation,diseases like HIV/AIDS. The LRA hurts the adults to - taking away there homes,beating them ( some are beat with machettes, others are blinded or have lips and ears cut off just for the sake of torture) the LRA tries to get children ages 5-12 primarily - their reasoning is they are big enouhg to hold a gun and small enough to go into schools and get more children. There are very few schools is Uganda though most being ruined by the LRA and there are about 1000 students to everyt teacher making it hard to learn if people can. All of this is caused by Josphef Kony. 1 man can put a country in choas for 20 years. All these people want is peace but it takes work. That is where everyday people like us come into the picture.
