by fredtv on 12-27-2006 @ 11:09:24 PM I consider myself very politically oriented, and growing up, in the late 80's and 90's, and this decade as well, I would get upset over some of the things that were going on in this country. It really made me angry, and still does. I would never understand why there weren't more well know icons, coming out and saying something, and standing by there beliefs. Iin my parents' generation, during the 60's, there were plenty, I'm a huge Dylan fan, and this song is very Dylan-esq. I absolutely love how this guy was able to get his message accross so clear, and have such an impact on how people feel about our current leader. I'm a huge Bright Eyes fan. I love all of his work, but he his not very well known among people outside of the 18-24 market. He was able to feel comfortable speaking out and putting this song together, simply because he is not a major celebrity, which means that he really had nothing to lose. The Dixie Chicks, however, are a great example of why it had to take an indie style artist to come out and make a statement. And to all of you morons, who have commented saying how annoyed you are with celebrities speaking their minds, I say this to you: Bright Eyes is excersizing his 1st amendment right to be able to say what he wants, without having to be afraid of the government chopping his head off just as they did in past centuries, if you want to take that first amendment, and kick it to the curb, go ahead...just don't consider yourself a patriot. This country is based on the right to speak up, the right to write a song about anything..you are completely entitled to your opinion, and completely entitled to getting it out there. Pro-Bush or anti- Bush, any time you witness someone speaking freely, you should respect his opinion, and not discourage him from speaking out again. You should thank your lucky stars that you live in this great country, and embrace the fact that you're free to speak.

In this song he approaches her, and even though she has gotten over him, his words bring back memories in her mind, and she begins to rekindle her love for him.
