  • In The Mousetank. Vol 00

by MouseyC on March 31, 2007
I noticed a few people number their journal posts. So why not me? Indeed, so i shall. This was going to be quite a long post with a big story. But i searched for something in the Firefox toolbar without opening a new tab and lost everything i was writting. Yes, i'm a idiot. So i'll briefly explain the obscure name of my journal. Bought some new CD's the other day. Isis - 'In The Absence Of Truth'. Which i actualy already have, but only in mp3 form. I wanted the real thing. When its just on my computer i dont really feel like i own it. While i was there i also picked up another album. Isis & Aereogramme - 'In The Fishtank. Vol 14'. I'd never heard of Aereogramme, so i was already onto a winner. (New music ftw) But i liked the sound of In The Fishtank. No particular reason, i just do. So thats why i named my journal In 'The Mousetank. Vol 00' (Clever, no? I swapped Fish with Mouse. See it?) Why from '00' You ask? What happened to '01'? Number one will be along shortly, but i'm a computer sceince student, and we count from zero. Makes much more sense when you think about it. Back to Aereogramme. Without actualy knowing what they sound like, it was hard to tell them appart from Isis. But the singing was done by them for sure. So to wikipedia to read about them, and guess what? They're british, huray! Scotland to be more exact. The entire album only has 3 songs on it, but Prog rock being what it is there's still half an hour of music. Good stuff. There are obviously In The Fishtank Vols 1-13 aswell. They're a 'collaboration project' by a label called Konkurrent, of who i know nothing about. But it might be worth having a look around. On a slightly more personal note. I didn't get one job (sad), did get another interview (happy), do have a place to live next year (happy) and am carrying on with my course (determined). There, some feelings and stuff just so i fit in with everyone else on this site. (Cheer up, it might never happen. Oh wait... it already has... Lighten up morons)

  • Can't remember the name.

by MouseyC on March 28, 2007
I actualy read a sane journal today. Wish i could remember the name, began with a 'J' i think. Either way whoever was talked about how most people on this site moan about how shit their life is and cutting themselfes'n'all that crap. But it was a bit more articulate than that. Anyways, half way through my Old Speckled Hen (Strong Fine Ale) and talking crap to old friends on face book. Thats it... That story goes no further. • Why?

by MouseyC on March 23, 2007
Why? I Dont get it. Why is it trendy to hate the PS3? It just got released here in the UK. But wherever i read the PS3 seems to be hated. Why? Has the whole world turned into Nintendo Wiitards? (hahar, you see what i did there?) I didn't have one on pre-order i couldn't afford it. Which has nothing to do with the PS3's very reasonable price. It's a monster, you get what you pay for. If it was £600 i would still buy it. Come to think of it i would buy 10 PS2's again before i even touched a 360 or a wee (wii i know, but wee is funnier). "It's not a console, it's a toy". Dyl, i will remember that forever.

  • Mouse Fear Satan

by MouseyC on March 22, 2007
God damn it (leeroy). Got a letter today about my attendance to lectures. Leave me alone, this is univercity not school. I'm paying for it, ill attend what i damn well please. Either way... Randomly skipping through my vast Mogwai collection i recently aquired, i came across one of the most beautiful pieces of music i have ever heard. 'Mogwai Fear Satan'. The last track on Young Team. But the best bit, it's 16 minutes and 19 seconds long. Just when you think this masterpiece will end, it doesn't. It just keeps going. And it's not one of those bonus tracks, that get you all excited about when you see '30:23' and really its two 4 minute long songs with 20 minutes of silence. Fail.

  • Yarly

by MouseyC on March 20, 2007
Funny word, Yarly. I think i came from Orly, you know. That owl thing. Or did i just make it up? Either way... I dont know how, who or when. But someone or something (or myself when i was very drunk) has added a new band to my favourties. Unfinished Thought. So i ask Dayle (huge mp3 collection), no luck, he doesn't have them. So its to my trusty friend Google, ahhh Google. The Oracle of all knowledge. Well a long story slightly shorter. Turned out to be a good band. However or whoever added them to my favourites, i'm very happy. Keeping this one a bit shorter than my previous two. Lack of crap to say (not that what ive said isn't crap, because it is) and i have an assignment due in tommorow. I still have to code a Round Robin algorithm. (fuck j00 java)

  • To Another Pub

by MouseyC on March 13, 2007
Ever so slightly more fun posting here while drunk Either way. Mouse does it again. Random CD from the shop. 'The End' - Elementary. Woah, what an album. If you're a fan of Mars Volta you should check out 'The End' Prog is the way forward. I couldn't even find The End on here, guess i'll have to post some lyrics, but thats a bit of a ball-ache and i have better things to do. Like buy, yes buy music. Remember? The thing that isn't downloading or myspace? I hate RIAA (and i'm and englishman) as much as the next person, but for gods sake, buy some music. Also myspace is pretty shit too, better than reading the journals on SM though. Funny as hell. But atleast Naruto Shippuuden 05 is out this week. Hello people who listen to intelligent music. Hope you're all well. (excludes. My Chemical Romance, Bullet for my Valentine, Metalica, Guns & Roses, most things in UK charts, Enter Shikari, Lost Prophets or anything close to emo or whatever the hell its called now. Thank you Isis. Not "Thank god for Isis", he had nothing to do with it. Isis saves me from the crap of everyday "rock" music. Garden Of Light, remember.

  • To The Pub

by MouseyC on March 10, 2007
Damn, this makes two journals. If i keep this up it might become a regular thing. 2:53am right now, just got back from Inn on the Pier, nicest place in Aber you can go thats open 'till 4am ('lo Dyl). But while we were there, something magical happened. Turns out starting monday the place is open 24 hours. So me and two (so far, Dayle & Dyl) friends are gonna put these new opening hours to the test. A 24 hour pub stay. The genral plan is to slowly work our way up to 72 hours. 24 this week, 48 another week and then the big one. 72 hours in the pub. The genral rules for our first 24 hour stay are this. Only leave your seat for a drink, food, a Nintendo (a piss, wii, get it? If you own a wii you are wrong) and money. Should be a good laugh, i hope. We're going to film bits of it anyway, so if anyone is bored enough to watch a bunch of idiots sitting in the pub, watch it when we're done Yarly. • Journal eh?

by MouseyC on March 06, 2007
Had an SM account for a while now and after a few pints of Stella it seems like as good a time as any to write some crap here that people will read and go "woah, that was a waste of time." And even if no-one reads it, pfft, iono. Aint the end of the world. So, music eh? Music pisses me off if i'm honest. There's so much crap around today, it's hard to get through it all to find the good stuff. If anyone at all is reading this try listening 'God Is An Astronaut'. Irish band, instrumental (that means no singing if you're an idiot) but very, very good. They've got a few albums but i think the best is 'All Is Violent, All Is Bright'. Though 'The End Of The Beginning' isn't bad either Getting more into instumental stuff these days, nothing ticks me off more than a band that have excellent music that's ruined by a shit singer. SOAD are a perfect example of that (he can't sing, deal with it) Cant go wrong with stuff like Isis and Mogwai. Now, i better write some stuff about my pain and sorrow and how shit my life is blah, blah. But no-one wants to read that, so i wont. I genrally find that stuff funny as hell anyway. How can anyone take it seriously? I laugh my head off reading some of these journals. Yeah this is getting kinda long, so if you've made it this far i apologies. Life and things, lets see, lets see... Well, i finish all 220 episodes of Naruto last night, great anime if you havent seen it. Imagine Dragonball Z, but with a story and better charcters. Actualy no, that doesn't do it justice, just watch the damn thing. Too optimistic to think there are any West Ham Utd fans on SM? My god... I wonder why we do sometimes. Still going. Bored yet? Lets see. Isis - Wrists Of Kings is just finishing on my mediaplayer. Great track, i'm not so keen on the screaming, but on the whole its good. Shame there's no reply to these things, i'd really like to hear some suggestions for Isis-like bands. You have to think about it a bit more than most music. And the best type of music is the music that makes you thing. Which brings me to my next bit of a rant... No-one wants to play my music... No, really? I live in this place in Wales. (bit of rock bolted on to the UK if you really dont know, google it or something) I'm a bassist, but no-one around here seems to want one. Not one that wants to play anything a little bit different. It's all indie. (Killers, Kasabian, Snow Patrol all that crap thats coming out of britain, indie or whatever you wanna call it) Post-rock (or so i'm told is what it's called) is the way forward, there are a few band cropping up like God Is An Astronaut and Young Mountain that i think (and hope) will make it atleast a little bit big. They deserve it for doing something at little bit different. What i'm trying to say in bits of this journal is. Listen to something a little different, something you don't know. I've always bought music like this. Go to your record shop. Pick a random CD that you like the look of by a band you've never heard of. Listen to half of the first track of that CD in the shop, buy it and take it home. I've found most of my favourite bands that way and you should atleast (if you havent already) try them. Smile Empty Soul, Oceansise (for Isis, Tool fans), Switched, OneSideZero (highly, highly recommend) Hurt (very, very good, i think toured with Alice In Chains recently, cant recommend enough) finally, ShadowFlag, as far as i know, their not signed yet, but its a crime if they never do get signed, there's mp3's on their site to download and they've probably got a myspace too(everyone and their dog does). Anyways. If you've actually bothered to read all this. Thank you and i'm sorry for taking up your time. Cheers Mouse - Someplace called Aberystwyth in Wales.
