Here is a beautifully irrelevant journal entry from me, mrpieeater, obscure song meanings member no# 5,954,283,102. I have been listening a lot to a pair of almost polar opposite bands. On one end you've got the Meat Puppets, a cowpunk, alt-rockin', sometimes funky jangly band...on the other...Grand Funk Railroad, the kings of hickish, populist beer swillin' rock (with funk!). Other things have been R.E.M, an interesting avant-gardish progressive metal/hardcore group called Giant Squid, and the ever present in my listening Big Star and Chris Bell. My tastes have mellowed a reasonable bunch, turning more towards alt-ish, beatlish things, away from the arty metal and thrash. However I have not 'given up' on these things, the nature of absorbing music means eventually you have to move on or it'll get far too stale. One day I'll return to the Dark Angels and Megadeths with a vengeance. And that is, how they say, the cookie crumbles. Plus on a personal note, work rocks!
