  • Tricks of the English Language, part 1

    by AVN_01 on October 11, 2006
If you ever feel stupid, then just read on. If you've learned to speak fluent english, you must be a genius. This little treatise on the lovely language we share is only for the brave. Peruse at your leisure, english lovers. There is no egg in eggplant nor ham in hamburger; Neither apple nor pine in pineapple. English muffins weren't invented in England nor French fries in France (Surprise!). Sweetmeats are candy, while sweetbreads, which aren't sweet, are meat. • Paradoxes in the Key of Hypocrisy

    by AVN_01 on September 30, 2006
We are cold-hearted when it comes to global warming; The only lights that turn off when we are asked to conserve are the ones in our heads; The bureocracy does nothing to tighten he gap between rich and poor, but the rich just become richer as the little the poorest citizens have left gets taken away. We are richer in matgerial posessions but poorer in spiritul needs; Profit margins are rising while natural resources are declining. Children are obese at rising rates while their parents are sitting around doing nothing; We are fighting for world peace while gangs run rampant in our hometowns. These are the times of more books and higher illiteracy, more to spend and less to share; We want too much, take more than our share, and give too little; We point the finger at others but won't look in the mirror first; We talk but don't listen and listen but don't care. This is a time when we can change the world, or wait for someone to who's waiting for you. This is a time when you can make a difference...or just press Alt-F4. By Me Go Canada!
