here is the thing about song lyrics... it doesnt always matter what the author of them meant when they wrote the song. it doesnt matter what the complete dissection of the song leaves you with. what matters is what the song means to you... how you can apply it to your life and how it affects you. you have to own a song to make it mean anything. you have to take it and apply it to your life and make it a part of your heart. then and only then can it truly have meaning.
