  • #4 Cool Songs

Listen to Box Codax. Now that's a cool band. Especially Naked Smile, which just might be the coolest song I know. Then there's The Clash. If you haven't heard Rock the Casbah (well, okay, everyone has heard it) you should. And if you haven't heard in a long while, I suggest you listen to it again. And sing along. It's cool isn't it? If you liked it (and even if you didn't), try London Calling next. You've heard it too haven't you? Everyone has. But listen to it now, but this time singing along isn't necessary. You can do small dance movements if you want though. Franz Ferdinand's Outsiders is really cool too. It's best to listen to when you're walking. Look down at the ground while walking (in a cool way of course), occasionally glancing darkly at passing people. For effect, you can even put your hands in your pockets. And remember the cool walk! You feel like a cool outsider don't you? I know there's a lot more cool songs, but these are just examples. Rock the Casbah, Kata

  • #3 Creepy Songs

There's something about strange, creepy songs that makes me return to them again and again. By creepy songs I mean stuff like The Cure's "A Forest" and "Lullaby". It's what nightmares are made of. Things that scare me, and I love to be scared. The only problem with songs like the two fabulous ones mentioned earlier is that you shouldn''t listen to them too often. And when you listen, you should really Listen. It's the same as with watching too many horror movies - you sort of get immune to them. You start recongnising the patterns and notice that the movies are just lame, unrealistic and boring. These (like Hot Songs) are best listened to in the dark. It's lovely to let your imagination go wherever it wants to go, and Listen. Other songs that could be categorized under this title: The Killers' "Jenny Was A Friend of Mine" Die Toten Hosen's "Nichts bleibt für die Ewigkeit" The Rasmus' "Dead Promises" Also, DTH's "Vater Unsen" (and Opium fürs Volk in genral) is quite spooky. I don't really know what it is about Vater Unsen which makes it creepy. It just is, to me atleast. I'm sure there are many others I've forgotten, but these will hopefully be enough for now. The Cure is the best in this category, with "A Forest" and "Lullaby". But these aren't truly scary, frightening songs. These songs are just perfectly creepy. Enjoy today, bye. EDIT: I've left Rammstein off this completely! Okay, so on their new album Rosenrot, the following are fit for this category: "Benzin", "Spring", und "Ein Leid". They deserve to be mentioned in this entry.

  • #2 Hot Songs

Just got back from my short holiday (I went sking, in Lapland) which means that I'm quite a bit happier than last time. Last time I was sad. And the week after that I was feeling very down and I'd have been listing Depressing Songs. There would have been lots of R.E.M. and Coldplay, bit of The Rasmus. But today is a good day despite the few disappointments. I've been listening to Franz Ferdinand even louder and even more than usually. "Michael" is the hottest song I know. It's catchy, it's sexy, it's very dancable. Love it. "Evil and a Heathen" is similar. It's evil and it's a heathen and Kapranos sings about smooth naked canals and teeth being black with wine. It sends shivers up my spine and is a brilliant song. The there's "I'm Your Villian" and "Shopping for Blood" and many others. I should also mention The Killers, because they're very good at these songs too. "Midnight Show" gives me the creeps but in a good way."Andy, You're A Star" is great too. These are The songs to listen to in the dark. In the dark.. Matinée! Must not forget "The Dark of the Matinée". Such a brilliant song. Hothothot. Most of these songs are the type that have to be danced to. You can't listen to them without starting to do cool or not-so-cool dancemoves. -so come and dance with me michael-

I'd never realised that there was a journal here! I wonder why there even is a journal. There must be some kind of reason - a good logical reason - but seeing as I don't know what one is supposed to write here, I cannot know what this journal is meant for. I've been listening to Led Zeppelin and Rainbow today. I don't listen to Rainbow very often, and if I do I don't really LISTEN to it. I just play it in the background and do other things. But today I actually concentrated, and I understood why I have Rainbow downloaded on my computer. "Still I'm Sad" is really good. This is the first time I've really listened to it, and it turns out that it's one of the songs that can make me cry. It's not quite as emotional as Led Zeppelin's "Babe I'm gonna leave you" (which never fails to make me sob or at least fill with sorrow), but still. Led Zeppelin has been the only band with the ability to make me cry (not counting some songs such as "Fade Together" by Franz Ferdinand and "Don't Let Go" by The Rasmus. But neither bands have other songs I can cry to) and now there's Rainbow aswell. Maybe I'm just getting too emotional these days, and maybe I'm listening too intently. But never mind.
