So on Tuesday i went down to FNAC in Barcelona, Spain after class and got the new album. I was very happy to get it after thinking about it and anticipating its arrival for months and months. I took it outside and sat around in Plaça Catalunya and listened to the Jupiter disc. Its better than anything i could have hoped for! Some of the songs were terrifically funky and others were so deeply melodious and beautiful that i just about started to cry on a couple of occasions. At first i thought the second half of the Mars disc wasnt very good, but its growing on me. The last song, death of a martian, is good musically, but a song about Flea's dead dog has nothing on Venice Queen for the last track on a chili peppers disc. I think Venice Queen is still my favorite RHCP song. I also thought hump-de-bump was really stupid, but its funkiness and feel has really grown on me and i really dig it now. Especially the last times through the chorus at the end with Flea blasting away on the trumpet. Good shit! This album is so great to listen to while walking somewhere!
