I've just really really started looking at the lyrics to Surrealistic Pillow, and they shocked me. They're amazing. The music is also pretty sweet... kind of catchy and folksy with an edge and some of the rhythms just really catch me in that way that you have to smile and maybe dance a little every time the music acts that irresistably. I'm making no sense, but that's okay. I love the feeling when the music is building and you know the chord progression that's coming up is just perfect and it'll reach that spot in your heart that completely resounds. Embryonic Journey does that to me. That's probably my favourite track on the album. For some reason, instrumental songs and songs that are otherwise mostly lyricless (think Great Gig in the Sky) have been appealing to me a whole lot recently. In this sort of mood, I really ought to go back and listen to Wish You Were Here, because as of yet, Shine On Crazy Diamond has only built me up lyricwise, and not necessarily musicwise. But then, Any Colour You Like never exactly thrilled me until very recently. I should really try to go back. Back to Jefferson Airplane. I'm in love with the echo. Seriously. Just their tone is pretty sweet. Maybe I'm just too into thinking about the sort of psychadelic culture back then, but it just feels kind of dated, and I really like that. Dated in a good way. The only song I haven't really been able to get into is Plastic Fantastic Lover. I think that's because it's too much of average rock whereas I like the rest of the CD for its out of averageness. I think I've run out of thought now.
