  • Back to the good stuff

    by 3lancer on August 02, 2008
So I've regained all my old library. The Nada Surf, the Honorary Title, the Death Cab, the Dashboard, the David Gray. Coldplay's VLVODAAHF is still awe-inspiring; their tour is incredible just to watch on youtube. There's lots of indie-rock, indie-pop, alt-rock coming through my speakers and headphones. I discovered The Rocket Summer but then found out they're not all that good. Jimmy also feature quite highly on the playlist. I'm back to the good stuff, which is important, 'cause I need it at the moment. Life's a bit shit. Music is the escape route.

I've downloaded the Scissor Sisters album and I think it's awesome. I've got a load of new stuff on my PC - Bright Eyes feature quite prominently, as do REM, Angelis, and a few fantastic new finds for me; The Starting Line, a decent pop-punk band, Boys Like Girls, who are just amazing, and Cute is What we Aim for, a quirky band to say the least. I can now, with some knowledge of the subject, say that Dropkick Murphys and Reel Big Fish are absolutely shit. Joe hates me for it, but I think he knows it's true. When The President Talks to God and A Perfect Sonnet by Bright Eyes are top of every playlist, the former having some GREAT lines and the latter being one of the best songs I've ever listened to. I downloaded some Political Rap the other day, expecting great things; I was disappointed. Oh, and Razorlight's new album isn't awe-inspiring.

  • Killers

Atm i'm listening to The Killers - When You Were Young, Smile Like you Mean it and stuff like that. Snow Patrol has died but I still appreciate the massive genius of the songwriting. It just got overplayed on my pc. But anyway. Killers are close to being a Christian Rock band (or religious anyway) but they're so awesome it doesn't matter. They performed on Friday Night with JR last night and were amazing. Safe. Also, Scissor Sisters' I Don't Feel Like Dancin' and a random selection of others is cool. The Kooks, James Morrison and Gnarls Barkeley also feature.

  • Snow Patrol

Basically atm I'm taken aback by how deep and amazing Snow Patrol's new album, Eyes Open, is. The insight and lyrical genius of Gary Lightbody is pretty much unrivalled by anyone, ever. I saw them in Leeds and they were immaculate and I can't wait for the next releases.
