  • Whiskeytown - West NY Serenade (aka What Makes The

    by FireFly65 on December 27, 2005
Found another beautiful song. Because of yet another fruitless attempt to find lyrics to an old bootleg song by Whiskeytown I have tried to pen down the lyrics myself: Whiskeytown - West New York Serenade What makes you act like this? Standing in your torn up dress Speaking Spanish and in English In your daddy's bar Just up the block from your dad's house Brothers broke in chain in rest (?) Linnen cloth your mother's hands against her chest Out there tearing up the boys with your sweet eyes Brothers best friends drink the rounds to handle ..... Just one person, one by stool less than that And I'm trying to dismiss What makes the world like this She had never touched a boy At least never like this before Flowers at the funeral road Reminded her of spring Bones that burns out in the sign hangs above her daddy's tie Dance around her like some strange whistling new york serenade She speaks in tongues She's two drinks in Static and steam The tunnels underground collapse And stranded us here Standing, smoking cigarettes In some torn up dress I'd like to dismiss What makes the world like this What makes you act like this? Standing in your torn up dress Speaking Spanish and in English In your daddy's bar Notes: Some parts are awfully wrong, but this was just the best I could do.

  • Lyrics song Smile from Grant-Lee Phillips

    by FireFly65 on December 27, 2005
Last week I've been looking on the internet for the lyrics of the song 'Smile' by Grant-Lee Phillips. The song was put on the album Our Little Corner of the World (2002), the Gilmore Girls soundtrack album. But they were nowhere to be found. Maybe because this song is not put on any regular CD Grant-Lee Philips made. In some episodes of Gilmore Girls he had a small part as the local troubadour. Because of that he wrote this song which was then put on this soundtrack album.
