• Who needs a band? I need a band. Yes. I do.

Well, this would my first entry. Praise the Lord! What a wonderful day! Anyway, I'd like to take this opportunity to explain my screenname...annieneedsabandIL. Basically....I need a band. Tough isn't it? I'm a singer and play basic guitar and I'd really really REALLY like to start a band sometime soon. I want an emo band. Not too many girls are in the market there and that's the music I like the most. So if you're in the area (central/southern Illinois...I live near Effingham (Mattoon), but go to school at Southern Illinois University Carbondale) you really should give me a shout. I need a lead guitarist, possibly another guitarist (who knows, maybe i'll just be a frontperson) a bassist (if you can play upright bass or cello, that would be a plus! but not required :), drummer, and I already have a keyboardist. One of the guitarists has to be able to sing. I want a lot of guy back-up vocals. I think it would sound awesome (and original, who's done that before?) If all of this stuff could come together i think we'd have a really awesome band that people would want to listen to. So if you're interested let me know! anie13@hotmail.com as a side note...you might want to be reassured of my singing abilities before you jump into this. I know many guys are hesitant to have a girl lead singer, especially one they've never before heard. i'm not a prissy girl singer, and i'm not a freaky "Kittie" or "Garbage" wannabe. I have a strong voice with a 2 and a half to 3 octave range. I've been in multiple choruses including IMEA all-state honors chorus (very prestigious) but i've never really enjoyed that type of music. I don't sing rock with vibrato, i don't try to pretty it up. I sing it straight, the way the guys do, with my own flare...I put a lot of emotion in it. That's one reason I want to have an emo band...I love to act, so because of this i really FEEL the lyrics when i sing them. I'm also not afraid to let go. I won't just stand there like avril lavigne does in her concerts. I like to jump around and really just rock out. (for example, i performed "take me away" by fefe dobson for a high school variety show last year and just rocked out on stage and some people told me i stole the show and that i have really good stage prescence) Man i hate talking about myself. I also am not cocky, i'm goofy. but anyway i thought that was important so you know i'm not just trying to brag about myself, i really just want you to get an idea. I really want to do this, and nothing will stop me. I just know that there are some really cool people on here and probably some very musically talented ppl so i thought i'd give it a shot.
