I have been listening to a lot of Pedro the Lion lately...their old stuff, and some unreleased songs as well. I snagged "Penetration" (originally called "Moving Units" - whose lyrics I just added) and "Rapture" mp3s from the Jade Tree site. They're both from the new album Control. These songs have grown on me a lot. I think they might be among his finest work, if not the finest. It's edgier and more energetic but still has that biting sarcasm characteristic to Pedro. The album follows the "story album with harsh social commentary" concept used on Winners Never Quit. This album is about a failing marriage, and a corporate sellout bastard. Interesting, since the husband is the grown up child of the girl from "June 18, 1976". Although I miss the slower, honest, confessional tone of his older material, I am still very interested in the new material. I am definitely sticking around to see what David Bazan's been doing. I am feeling really weird. I guess it's probably from being up at 1, listening to Dashboard Confesional's upbeat stuff, and Pedro the Lion's slower, kinda depresing stuff. Plus I have a lot of projects I have to do this week. And, of course, I have a special girl on my mind, although she doesn't know it yet. I feel like just sleeping forever. That's a good idea. I should sleep. I will. Have you ever read Madman Comics? Absolute best. Enough said.
